Vm&x JACK STOWE Jack, son of Dr. Carelton and Shirley Smith, recently spent three weeks at home before being sent on duty to Goose Bay Labrador. Jack, with the Air Police, will spend the next fifteen months at this isolation post. He received his basic training at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio Texas, spent the next fifteen months at Ellsworth, A.F.B., in South Dakota. " PAUL M. FUNK 1 "Paul M. Funk, 19, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Funk, live at 2614 S. Forestwood drive, was recently promoted to Sp/4 while serving with the 284th Aviation Co., in Seoul, Korea. Specialist Funk entered the arm;/ in August, 1966, and was last stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., with the generator section NCO before being sent to Korea on Jan. 18, 1967. He is a 1965 graduate of McHenry Community high school. John R. Becker, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Becker, 2726 Sequoia drive, McHenry, graduated May 5 as an aviator from the Army Aviation center at Ft. Rucker, Ala., and was commissioned a warrant officer. During the twenty-week course, he was taught various fire techniques and tactical maneuvers for helicopters supporting ground troops in Vietnam. He also received instruction in helicopter maintenance and survival techniques. Marine Private Edward R. Heyward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Heyward of 1204 N. Riverside Drive, McHenry, was graduated from eight weeks of recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit depot at San Diego.
