First National Bank "t of Woodstock Has Consistent Growth _ The First National Bank of Woodstock opened for business in 1934. The bank has been in the same building since then, but there has been two facelifting in 1946 and 1956, The first remodeling was general face lifting on the interior of the bank. In 1956 the bank purchased the two stores directly north of the bank and started to increase their facilities. The interior and exterior were changed to provide the growing list of customers with better and more efficient quarters. When the work was completed the bank held an Opening Celebration. At the time of the second remodeling the First National Bank had assets of 9,259,169.00 with total deposits of 8,464,932.00 and total capital accounts of 571,- 923.00 compared to December 1966 and you can see the growth over the past ten years. December 1966 the total assets had grown to 15*897,779.00 an increase of more than 6 million dollars, while total capital accounts increased more than V2 million dollars. While talking to Mr. Harold Beth, the president of First National you can see why the growth and progress has been steady and continuous since the bank first opened. From Mr. Beth right down the line every employee has that "May I Help You" Attitude it sounds simple, but in today's world many people seem to forget to ask "May I Help You". GREEN ST. iTION McHENRY Northern Illinois Gas Company, like the 16,100- square mile area it serves, has witnessed dynamic growth during recent years and predicts a future of continuing progress. In this year's annual report to stockholders, NI-Gas reported therm sales were up 16 per cent, and revenues rose by 10 per cent to $218,900,000. Marvin Chandler, chairman and president, said that in selling over three billion therms of natural gas, the company provided almost twice as much energy as did all the electric companies in Illinois combined. 945,000 CUSTOMERS NI-Gas today serves more than 945,000 customers in 471 communities throughout northern and western Illinois. About one-tenth (94,889) of these customers are located in the utility's northwest division, an area including McHenry County. The company last year added 36,000 new customers to its lines and brought natural gas service for the first time to 75 communities. Next year, the company expects to add its one millionth customer to the fastgrowing NI-Gas family. RECORD BREAKING WINTER The past winter, which was a record-setter in several ways, helped NI-Gas to a record, too. On January 17, the company distributed 1.96 billion cubic feet of natural gas to its customers--a record sendout for a 24-hour period. For the next five years (1967-71), Northern Illinois Gas Co. has budgeted $204 million for new construction. This will enable the company to extend service to thousands of homes, as well as to new business and industrial customers. CUSTOMER SERVICE / In addition to expanding its services, NI-Gas is continually improving them. The customer service departments located throughout NI-Gasland are constantly striving to bring fast, efficient response to customer requests. Radio-dispatched service trucks operated by trained servicemen are on call 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. In the area of service installation, too, the most modern methods are being practiced by NI-Gas. Crews today can install a service line using the "plowingin" technique. Instead of digging a wide trench, putting in the service pipe, and then backfilling, the plowing-in technique allows workers to do the job in one smooth operation. After a customer's service has been installed, his lawn appears practically untouched. While growing and improving, NI-Gas has continued to offer natural gas to its customers at a steadily decreasing cost. Since 1962, the utility's annual charges to customers have been reduced by some $30 million. As a result, NI-Gas says, the average space heating customer will pay approximately $25 less next winter than he did five years ago.
