"This spring concert featured the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade choruses and the first year, cadet and concert bands. It was a thoroughly delightful evening, unfortunately cut short by the announcement of tornado warnings. "Still the enthusiasm and talent evidenced by the young musicians sent the audience unwillingly home to wait out the weather. "I'm sure I speak for all who felt a genuine disappointment in having to cut short an evening of entgrtainment that promised even more enjoyment. And also, how disappointing to the young people who had worked so hard on the remaining numbers. "We in McHenry are fortunate to have instructors of the caliber of Mr. Helwig and Mr. Kohrt to teach our youngsters. Therefore, I want to refer to the fairy tale that was popular when I went to school. But it seems it has come to pass that it is given with one hand and taken away with the other, and the only ones who profit are the idle trouble-makers who, if they had to, could not even earn a living wage. Elected officials, regardless of party, try to keep this country free with constructive laws not destructive ones.
