We reserve the right to delete any material which we consider libelous or in objectionable taste.)- TEACHER BOUQUETS "Dear Editor: "It would be an oversight on the part ftf many people if no one wrote to publicly praise the combined efforts last Thursdaiy evening, May 18, of Phillip Helwig, music director qf McHenry grade schools, and Karl Kohrt, band director of the grade schools. "This spring concert featured the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade choruses and the first year, cadet and concert bands. It was a thoroughly delightful evening, unfortunately cut short by the announcement of tornado warnings. "Still the enthusiasm and talent evidenced by the young musicians sent the audience unwillingly home to wait out the weather. "I'm sure I speak for all who felt a genuine disappointment in having to cut short an evening of entgrtainment that promised even more enjoyment. And also, how disappointing to the young people who had worked so hard on the remaining numbers. "We in McHenry are fortunate to have instructors of the caliber of Mr. Helwig and Mr. Kohrt to teach our youngsters. "Sincerely, "Ann Varese" ENCHANTMENT -1967 "Dear Editor: "Once again I want to keep touch With our citizens and voice my opinion. Therefore, I want to refer to the fairy tale that was popular when I went to school. A fisherman who made his living and lived in a hovel was lucky one day and caught a fish who happened to be an enchanted prince. / " 'Let me go', he says, 'and I will give you all of the comforts of life.' That he did. But the fisherman kept coming back and making demands until the prince could stand it no longer so he said, 'Miserable man go back to your hovel that you had in the beginning.' And that, my fellow citizens, should give us thought. We in the year of 1967 are living in perilous times. Other countries find themselves with new governments overnight. Why? A demand for higher and higher wages whenever a contract has to be renewed. Why keep planning for luxuries we cannot afford until the time comes? "Why not strike a happy medium? I believe in good wages. Without them we would not have gone as far as we did. But it seems it has come to pass that it is given with one hand and taken away with the other, and the only ones who profit are the idle trouble-makers who, if they had to, could not even earn a living wage. Elected officials, regardless of party, try to keep this country free with constructive laws not destructive ones. "Mrs. Nettie Sarley "Lakemoor" FIREMEN'S DANCE "Dear Editor: "This Saturday, the men of McHenry Township Fire Company, No. 1, will hold their annual dance at the V.F.W. post. "Proceeds from this dance will be used to buy additional MAY 25, 1967 - PLAINDEALER - SEC. I, PG. 7 fire fighting equipment, so the community may be better served by the company. "I hope that everyone in the^ community will support this worthwhile organization by buying a ticket for the dance. Tickets may be purchased from any member of Fire Company No. I. "Very Truly Yours, "W.R. Serbin" BLOOD BANK DRAWING The second drawing of the year in the McHenry Community blood bank sponsored by the local Kiwanis club will be made Sunday, June 18.
