SUIIYSIDE , ESTATES " Sally S.^rstro,„ 3X5-0«Mi4 Mnrh-nr li.-rjr S85-S41* WOMEN'S CLUB ENJOYS NOVEL ENTERTAINMENT The Sunnyside Estates Women's Club met at Pat William's home on Wednesday evening. The main topic of discussion was tne dance on May 27. Ticket money collected so far left much to be desired. Gloria Von Oepen is in charge of sending greeting cards. She would appreciate a call if anyone knows of a resident who is hospitalized. Fran Olsen was appointed hospitality chairman. The installation of new officers was conducted by Carol Kennebeck with an "ax" and Pat Williams pinned dandalion corsages on them. Mary Ellen Wickman is; president, Joanne Eichhorn is second vice-president, Carol Kennebeck is first vice-president, Dolores Ger- 3tein is secretary and Fran Fuqua is treasurer. Marlene Berg, the out going president, was presented with a badge for bravery beyond the call of duty, and a gift. For laughs, Dolores Hanahan read a mock yearly financial report and Sally Segerstrom read the yearly minutes arid roll call of members in humorous form. To make sure everyone was in a gay mood, spiked punch was served. The yearly minutes took in last year's dance, Club Christmas party and swimming party. Many members are still knocking on wood to make sure Jim Fuqua's friendly toast to all does not come true. The roll call of members said something about each one such as; the only bunny girl in the subdivision, still young enough to catch a childhood disease, a most loyal member who would build a family room just for a club tea, only boy fashion model, and someone who hopes for more meetings as meeting hours fit into her new family planning program. Dolores' mock financial report held quite a number of hillarious disbursements such as $5.25 for gas money to Chicago to get potato chips 20 cents cheaper, blackmail money paid to candid cameraman to buy certain negatives "and the last one being a fee for an auditor to come in and straighten out the whole mess. A number of games were played and coffee and cakes served. One cake was decorated with a rainbow made by Dolores Hapahan. This represented last year's dance. Carol Kennebeck made the other cake which was made into a fountain representing this years dance. Incidently the cakes were as good as they looked. The June 28 meeting will be held at Dolores Gerstein's home, 1817 W. dakleafo WELCOME HAHNDORFS Richard and Diane Hahndorf and eleven monthfold Rickie just moved into the home at 1622 Lakeview. BOY SCOUT SPRING CAMPOREE The Black Hawk Area Council of Boy Scouts held their Spring camporee last weekend. Sixteen troops took part in the three day campout. The boys were driven by car to an area outside Marengo. There the boys put on their packs and took a mile hike to the camp site. They set up camp and turned in for the evening. Saturday brought tornado warnings so the boys had to hike back to the parking lot where they had to lie flat on the ground for what seemed to be hours. After the all clear they hiked back to camp. Then came the skillery tests in fire building, cooking, the tying of three different knots and morse code. Steve Kanter and Don Gerstein, the only two boys from the Estates, were in a patrol which won a blue ribbon in skillery. They had the camp fire Saturday evening where the scouts sang songs and some participated in a program for the entertainment of the others. The boys had to cook all their meals over the camp fires and s<Jeep in their tents. Saturday evening brought temperatures down in the thirties so the boys had a hard time keeping warm. Sunday was not very exciting since the boys just cleaned up the camp area and hiked back to the car.s for their return home.
