Perhaps at the time the contents appeared rather drab or uninteresting, but as the new facilities have neared completion the significance of the ^physical structure became apparent to all of us, downtown MeHenry has taken on a new look, a look of prosperity, of progress, of growth and last but certainly not least a definite feeling of comradeship among the business community. Several weeks ago, the. directors of the association were host to city and civic officials; as the tour browsed thru the spacious ^new building and the comments were repeated time and time again "What a wonderful ad- , dition for downtown MeHenry" or "Your people have certainly done a tremendous job" and "Downtown McHnry will receive a big lift when the association opens", and as the new quarters were opened last week, our customers and friends continue to be amazed at the appearance of the "Old Legion Hall". Our new building will offer the residents of the MeHenry area a more convenient and serviceable association. Our expanded and improved services will give our customer time, convenience and create a "New Look" for downtown MeHenry. (REPRINTED FROM McHENRY PLAINDEALER thursday, October 13, 1966.) A proposed three acre development of downtown MeHenry has been announced by MeHenry Savings and Loan association. It will include a complex of seven retail stores, a restaurant and three-story office building totaling 34,700 square feet of operational space.
