He has contacted John Shay, requesting his cooperation in coordinating this theme with his annual guitar marathon, scheduled this year for Aug. 16. Having received Mr. Stay's approval, a committee was named to plan the combined program, including Harry Dean, Ann Varese, Bob Steiner, Bill Nye, Larry Lund and John Shay. The next meeting of this committee will be held Wednesday, June 28, when all retail merchants and other interested business people are invited to be present. Last week* s meeting was conducted by Co-Chairmen Allan Leibsohn and Don Weingart. (continued from page !) Following study by the City Council and several businessmen on Greenstreet and a traffic survey by Chief Clark,-the Council took steps to correct the traffic problem at Waukegan road and Green street. A change in the location of the island and right turn only from the right lane going south are expected. The Street and Alley committee has been authorized, with the assistance of Supt. Meyer and Chief Clark, to make the changes. On the Green street traffic count it Was found that far too many drivers were making a permitted "U" turn at the island and driving up and down the Congested street with no intention of stopping at stored. In other action., the Council approved oiling streets in Lakeland Park, contributing tho usual $350 toward Marine Fiesta Day, and having representatives meet with the Chamber of Commerce to discuss a request for promotion of a "Sidewalk Sale" on July 15. Alderman Etten reminded the Council that the first band concert will be held June 15 in the city park. Concerts will be held on Thursday nights this year and will start at 7:45 pan. irt^AmetteHalnes,^ il, Ranty Harkins, DoreetvHterrig, Daniel Hawkins aid Dona* Head.
