Sopko, 48, who died in McHenry hospital early Saturday morning, June 10, as the result of injuries sustained when he was struck hy an auto Friday evening, was buried in Mount Emblem cemetery, Elmhurst, on Monday. Services were conducted at 1 o'clock in St. Luke's Lutheran church, Itasca. Mr. Sopko was born Sept. 9, 1918, < in Chicago and had resided in Island Lake for several years. His affiliations included the Island Lake Lions club and Business Men's association and the Woodstock Elks club. He is survived by one daughter, Susan; a son, Terry, of Itasca; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sopko, of Round Lake and two brothers, Marion of Mundelein and Michael, Jr., of Round Lake. VICTOR PEDRETTI Victor Pedretti, 80, of 2806 E. Hickory drive, Wonder Lake, died June 8 in Harvard hospital, where he had been confined for three days. A nine-year resident of Wonder Lake, Mr. Pedretti was born in Italy July 1,1888. He had been a foreman for road construction. His wife, Mary, died in 1966. He leaves seven daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Smialek, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Duncan, Mrs. Edmund (Rita) Suberla, Mrs. William (Irma) Fleming, Mrs. Eugene (Victoria) Smola, Miss Florence Pedretti and Mrs. Gerald (Geraldine) Niemo, all of Wonder Lake; two brothers, Mark of Wonder Lake and Victor, Jr., of Oak Lawn; twentyone grandchildren ami one great grandchild. He was preceded in "death by a daughter, Dolores Lazalde, in 1965. A funeral Mass was sung at 10 o'clock Monday morning in Christ the King Catholic church, with interment in the church cemetery. REGISTER THIS WEEK FOR SUMMER ; " THEATRICAL PROGRAM Registration for the summer young people's theatrical pro- . gram at the Woodstock Opera House is being conducted this week from 1 to 4 every afternoon, including Saturday. Participants will be divided into one of four groups according to age or interest. The Ha'pennies, 3rd through 5th graders, will meet for 6 weeks beginning June 13 and ending July 20. They will meet at the Opera House Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 until 11:30 and will receive instruction from volunteer personnel in creative* writing, voice and diction, improvisation , and dance, graphic art and choral reading. The Paper Bag Players, 6th through 9 th graders, will meet for 9 weeks beginning June 12 and ending Aug 9. They will meet at the Opera House on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10 until 12. Their summer class instruction will include voice and diction, play reading, improvisation, theatre language, and interpretation and their activities will culminate a major production the weekend of Aug. 12 and 13. The Wizards, 7th graders through college age students, will meet for 13 weeks beginning June 12, at the Opera House on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 3. This group was established for those young people interested only in the technical aspects of the theatre. Their class instruction will include make-up, wardrobe, scenery, lighting properties and house maintenance. They will also do all the technical work for any production scheduled for this summer. Miss McHenry County Contest Gains Impetus Several McHenry county communities have indicated plans to enter candidates in the Miss McHenry County, 1967 contest. . Others are expected to file official entries before the deadline at 5 P.M. , Don Peasley, public relations director for the event, said this week. Communities heard from, either official or through a phone report, include Woodstock, Crystal Lake, McHenry, and Huntley. Sponsoring organizations in communities not listed should contact Peasley at once since contest plans must be brought to finalization soon. Those needing another copy of the official entry may contact him at Woodstock. Mrs. Dorothy Olbrich Kleckner has accepted the co-chairmanship for the third'year. The Miss McHenry County pagent is a feautre of the McHenry County Fair. The winner will vie in the Miss Illinois County Fair competition at Springfield. In the 1967 contest last January, the present Miss McHenry County-- Noreen Sanders, Richmond was the representative. I? The Miss McHenry County contest will have two judging sessions, preliminary judging at the Timbers restaurant cm July 10 and the finals before the grandstand audience on July 10 and the finals before the grandstand audience on Thurday night, Aug. 3. Local sponsors of entries to date are Woodstock and Crystal Lake Chambers of Commerce and the Huntley Lions Club, also McHenry VFW and Auxiliary. FAMILY HOLDS OPEN HOUSE IN HONOR OF SON Hail the conquering hero, was proclaimed loudly on Sunday, June 11, when the Charles Pintozzis of 4913 Home avenue hosted an open house in their son's honor. The "prodigal" son was welcomed home from the University of Oklahoma, where, on June 4 he received a degree from the School of Journalism. "Nick" is a 1961 graduate of McHenry high school and attended Loyola University for two years. Following induction in the Army, he continued his education at the University of Oklahoma. While serving in Germany, Pintozzi won a Freedom Foundation award for his essay titled, "My Vote, Freedom's Privilege." The awards are granted annually for individual effort on behalf of promoting greater understanding of the rights, freedoms and responsibilities of our American way of life. "Nick" has written many outstanding feature stories which have been published overseas, as well as in the Oklahoma campus newspaper. Though his future plans are uncertain, he may pursue a career in playwriting. However, she had been in poor health for several years. Mrs.1 Weichmann, 71 years of age, was born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, May 28, 1896, and resided in the Spring Grove and Round Lake area for thirty years. The deceased was a member of Albany Park chapter, No. 769, O.E.S. She is survived by her husband, Frederick; two sons, Donald F. of Park Ridge and John R. of McHenry; five grandchildren; and one brother, Earl William McClary, of Chicago. Services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home, with Rev. Raymond L. White officiating. Burial was in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
