After the more than adequate amount of rainfall in the past few weeks this -will take undetermined time. Don't panic though, they will be done as soon as. possible and the dust problem will be licked. WOMAN'S CLUB ; 'The annual smorgasbord was held last Saturday evening and was pronounced a huge success. The customers came in droves arid the food supply was more 'than sufficient to take care Of all of them. The smorgasbord committee and the Woman's blub were grateful to the patrons and donors for making :the affair so successful. Without any of them, it couldn't have been accomplished. LPPOA NOTES This is a final reminder to all property owners who have not paid their special road assessment which was levied in November. As of July 1, liens will be placed against all delinquent lot owners. Removal of the lien adds another fee to the amount to be paid and the original assessment amounted to $10. Property which has a lien filed against it cannot be sold until the lien is removed. This means that it will have to be paid sometime and it might as well be now and save everyone a lot of trouble. Dorothy and Bill Humphries chalk off thirty-one years on the twenty-fourth and Jtormer residents, who visit often, Louise and Tim McEnery, have forty-one years to their credit. The twenty-sixth day of June was pretty popular, with Ivy and Stan. Lezak celebrating their silver wedding anniversary. Dorothy and Roy Meineke have one more year to go, with twenty-four years of wedded bliss behind them, and Roy's sister, Helen and Ralph Stippick also chose this day for their wedding day nineteen years ago. Special congratulations are in order for Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Michel of Spruce lane, who will celebrate fifty golden years of matrimony on June 27. Another silver anniversary will be celebrated by Helen and Joe Gerambio on June 28. Our heartiest congratulations to each couple with wishes for many more happy years together. BOY SCOUT TROOP 459 . After all the money has been turned in for the pancake break- Cast tickets, prizes will be awarded to the two boys who sold the most tickets. An award will also be given to the patrol which has the most sales. In order to determine the winners, all money must be turned in as soon as possible. Aboard of review was planned for the meeting this week and results will be known soon. LITTLE LEAGUE The regular meeting of the Lakeland Park Boys Baseball club will be held on June 28 at the community house at 8 p.m. This will be an open meeting as usual and all fathers of participating boys and other interested adults are urged to attend. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK This last week went by as fast as a tornado cloud and we sure have had enough of those pesky things to last us for a long, long time. We spent the' whole week at Girl Scout day camp with a lot of other girls front the subdivision and i^COLLEGE BOARD aren't too 19 on the big events that took place. Marie Matchen received word from her son that she had become a Grandma again, which was really athrillforher. A son was born on June 12toStaffSargeant and Mrs. Kenneth Larson and has been named Richard Brian. He weighed a hefty 91b., 1 oz. at birth, which will make him a match for 2 year old sister, Renee, in short time. Ken is stationed at Laramie, Wyo., where he is studying at the University of Wyoming. This was the first grandson for Marie, which she happily adds to her two granddaughters. Shirley Meurer had a big birthday weekend with grandpa and grandma Meurer coming out to stay. She and Grandma entered the honors and were treated to a birthday dinner at the smorgasbord, followed by & big birthday cake. Grandma Meurer celebrates her birthday on June 20. - Jack and Petey Oakford and the kids celebrated Father's day at Duke and Connie Grondys, for a big celebration for all the fathers and also the third birthday of Jack's godchild, Mark Groixfy. Their brother-in-law, Pete Paulsen, and wife, Eileen, and family including his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Paulsen, Sr., who were visiting from Florida, attended. Marilyn and Patti Mc- offices OKAYS PAYMENT FOR TUITION During a meeting devoted mainly to housekeeping chores, (he Junior College board approved the payment of tuition of any resident who wants to attend summer school or the fall session of any public junior college in Illinois. No deadline for applications was set, nor was any estimate of the potential costs made. In other action, the board chose Thomas Bolger of the McHenry State Bank as its treasurer and the McHenry State Bank as its depository on a motion by TomParsley. Action on the choice of a secretary for the board was deferred to executive session. Choice of a lawyer was postponed for further study, as was the method of eliciting possible names for the college. Althougn offered, free office space by the Williams Street corporation in Crystal Lake, the board took action to draw up a lease for the Hamer house near the courthouse in Woodstock. The rental, will be $175 per month, with a minimum of a one-year lease. Sponge rayon, silk, or wool with carbon tetrachloride after you appty the shortening, butter, or cold cream. Q. How can I add sparkle to chinaware and glassware when washing it? A. The hostesses were her bridesmaids, ConnieBurrafiato, Mary Jo Fardella, Antoinette Visconti, Mary Schillace and Mary Justen. Among the guests were the mother of the bride, Mrs. Burrafato, and the mother of the groom, Dorothy Dowell, and the groom's sisters, Mary Beth and Doris, also Beverly Visconti, Mrs. Marsalla, Mrs. Visconti, Dorothy Ford, Marie Dowell, Mary Lemay, Mrs. Schillace, Rose Trickle and friends of the bride. The brideto- be received many lovely gifts for her new home in Texas, where Butch is stationed. A delicious ham dinner was served to the guests. Butch Dowell will be home on Thursday or Friday from Ft. Hood for a three-week leave. He and Mary will be wed on July 1 at St. Mary's church in McHenry. ' • The Humanns attended a graduation party on Sunday afternoon in Skokie in honor of Cheryl Humann, who graduated from Old Orchard Junior high school. The Dowell family has really been making the graduation rounds lately. They have attended parties for Mike Koch and Mark Burrafato and also one in Tinley Park and aother in Wheeling. Hope they recover in time to begin the wedding festivities. We have been bombarded in recent weeks by a maniac redwing blackbird who has been guarding his nest violently against the entire neighborhood. On occasion he wouldn't let us out of our house and we've been waiting impatiently for the blessed event for an awfully long time. It finally took place this morning but wasn't so blessed as one egg didn't hatch into anything at all and the other hatched but the baby bird didn't survive. The board seemed agreed that the college should get off on the right track in keeping tabr cm the expenditure of the public's money. An estimated $425,000 will be levied for the junior college district next year. This year a state grant of $100,000 is expected to be announced at the next board meeting Thursday, June 22. In commenting on the offer of the Woodstock City Council of $65,000 worth of real estate on the outskirts of Woodstock, President Nichols stated, "We will consider the letter. We will also consider any other application. We thank the city for the letter, but we are not in a position at this time to do more than that." William Banker, chairman of the site committee of the McHenry County Educational foundation, was invited to present the criteria his committee has developed for a junior college to the board for its considers-, tion.
