A newspaper fragment dated 1873 was found in back of one of the shelves. Unfortunately, some of the old herbs, drugs and mortars and pestles had been disposed of before Mr. Green took over. However, on hearing of the donation of the shelves and showcases, Fred G. Schroeder, of Schroeder drug store, Richmond, offered his collection of old herbs, patent medicines and nostrums found in every drug store in earlier times. He is also turning over some old fixtures and items of the medical profession. The table used by the well known Dr. Hepburn, Ringwood, will now join his well worn medicine bag, his diploma'and other items his widow had previously donated to the society. These historical but large items need space in which to be seen. It is hoped when the society has adequate space, an old time drug store can be recreated. All that will be needed will be the lovely blue and red glass fixtures that were a part of every drug store window in the early days.
