Personals "i-w-'-w • Mr* and Mrs. Leto Blake have returned from a vacation in which. they spent some time with their daughters in Fort Jennings, Delphosand Glandorf, Ohio, then motored on to visit friends in Marenisbo, Mich., and enroute home made stops at the homes of her brother, Frank May, in Chetek, Wis., and her niece in Harasha, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. George Hafner of Olmstead Falls, Ohio, spent a few days in the Alex Adams home and while here attended a reunion of the Adams family held at the home of Mrs. Margaret Adams in Fox Lake. Mrs. George Fitzgerald and sons, Ronald and Raymond, of Marycrest, Kankakee, visited her mother, Mrs. Ann Rodenkirch, Sunday. Mrs. Laura' Brennan of Chicago is visiting her sister, Mrs. Alice Brooks, this week. The Richard Swanson family has moved from the Alex Adams place on Court street to Country Club Estates. The place they have vacated is being occupied by the Donald Blume family who have moved from the Borchardt place on Waukegan street. Miss Margo Wogert of Malmo, Sweden, was aguestof Miss Judy Conway a few days this week. Mrs. Ceil Chamberlin, Mrs. Ed Yockey and Mrs. Geraldine Nikora of Milwaukee were en-1 tertained in the home of the former's niece, Miss Clara Miller, last Wednesday. Mrs. Chamberlin remained for the rest of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dobyns and daughter, Mary, returned Wednesday of last week from a trip to New York City, Washington, D.C., and Gettysburg, Pa., where they visited many places of interest. Out of town guests in the home of Mrs. Rita Ulrich on Marine Day included Tod Lange of Pacifica, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ulrich and Miss Helen Modine, St. Charles; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lawrence, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Courier, Marengo; Mr. and Mrs. Weston Bacon, daughter, Betsy, Crystal Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. David Young and son, Woodstock. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lockwood have returned from a ten day vacation trip through Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota and Wisconsin where they . did much sight-seeing. The Henry Heuser family of Chicago were Sunday guests of his mother, Mrs. Helen Heuser. Mrs. Eleanor Manning of Oak Park was a guest of McHenry relatives over the weekend. The Virgil Pollock family have returned from a two week vacation. They made the trip by plane and visited Mrs. Pollock's folks in Los Angeles for one week where they attended her brother's wedding and the other week was spent with Mr. Pollock's relatives in Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Lloyd Gratton and Mrs. Donald Schacht and daughter, Constance of Woodstock were dinner guests in the Robert Thompson home last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weber entertained a large gathering of relatives and friends from Chicago, Evanston, Lake Zurich, Skokie and McHenry at their home on Waukegan street, Marine Festival Day. Connie Cain returned to her home in Phoenix, Ariz., Wednesday after a ten day visit with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. John Thennes and Mr. and Mrs. Philip Thennes accompanied Sister Andreella to Saukville, Wis., to visit relatives last Wednes- A Rapt Audience day and later called on relatives and friends in Port Washington, Grafton and West Bend, Wis. The Laverne Lockwood family of Lake Geneva were Marine Day guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lockwood. Mr., and Mrs. Alfred Young returned to their home in St. Petersburg, Fla., Wednesday of last week after spending a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Page, and other relatives. While here they attended their twenty year class reunion. Hie Gerald Lawson family of Barrington were Sunday visitors in the home of his &unt Miss Laura Weber. Mrs. John R. Freund returned last week from an eight day sight-seeing tour to New York City and Washington, D^C., where she was accompanied by friends from Crystal Lake. Weekend guests in the Freund home were their grandchildren, Marsha and Ginny Lynn Freund of Wauconda and other visitors on Sunday was the Jay Seymour family of Wheeling. A reunion of the Phalin family was held at Veterans Acres near Crystal Lake Sunday. Present for the happy occasion were the eight children of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Phalin as follows: Mrs. Eleanor Foley, Mrs. Edna Knox, Thomas and George Phalin, McHenry; Howard Phalin, Winnetka; Harold Phalin, Waukegan, Mrs. Margery Mahoney, Chicago and Mrs. Ruth Anderson, Morton Grove. Their husbands^ wives, children and grandchildren swelled the crowd to 116. Recent dinner guests in the home of Mrs. Irene Guffey were Mr. and Mrs. William T. Johansen of Pheonix, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Lyons and four children of Placentia, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Pope of Woodstock and the William Guffey family of Richmond. Mrs. William Justen has just returned from a vacation of about two weeks in Newport, R.I., where she visited her daughter and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bestoso and family. $37,298 Received By Area Farmers From Land Bank Farmers in Lake, McHenry, and Boone counties are receiving checks totaling $37,298 as dividends on their stock in the Federal Land Bank association of Woodstock, according to an announcement by Thomas L. Frey, manager. This dividend was declared by the board of directors of the association at its last meeting, payable to its memberstockholders of record at the close of business on May 31. This event opened the many events held during Marine Festival Week. IRVIN GRAF Irvin Graf, 58, died Monday July 17, in his home at 5310 Leeside street, McHenry, where he had resided for only a week. He came here from Chicago, where he lived at 4836 W. Hirsch. The deceased was owner of a cigar and candy store in Chicago. Among his survivors is his wife, Bernadine. Local arrangements were made by the George R. Justen & Son chapel and the body transferred to the William C. Smith & Sons funeral home in Oak Park. WILLIAM MARTIN A short illness resulted in the death Saturday, July 15, of William Martin of Sterling, 111., a former McHenry resident. He had apparently recovered from surgery and returned to work when he was taken ill a week prior to his death, which occurred in a hospital at Monroe, "Wis. He warj born March 27,1908, in McHenry, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Martin. He had resided in Sterling for many years and was employed by the Internal Revenue Service out of the Rockford office. The deceased was a veteran of World War n, during which time he served in Germany. He was a member of the Knights of Columfcus and Holy Name society. Survivors include his wife, the former Viola Straugh, a school teacher; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Thompson of Waukegan and Miss Rita Martin of McHenry; and one brother, Robert Martin, of Sunland, Calif. A funeral Mass was sung in Sterling Wednesday morning, with interment in St. Patrick's cemetery, McHenry. GEOtfGE ROSS George Ross of 2414 N. Sterling drive, McHenry, died Saturday morning, July 15, in McHenry hospital, where he had been a patient two days. Death followed a two-year period of poor health. Mr. Ross, 74, was born in Munich, Germany, Aug. 25, 1892. He was a retired painter and decorator. The family had resided here for twenty-five years, moving to McHenry from Chicago. Survivors are his wife, Sophie and a brother, Joseph, of Wauwautosa, Wis. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen and Son funeral home, where services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Raymond L. White of the Community Methodist church officiating. Burial was private. GRACE FRODIN Grace G. Frodin of 5508 E. Lake Shore drive, Wonder Lake, died Saturday afternoon, July 15, in McHenry hospital after suffering a broken hip in a fall at her home three weeks previous. Mrs. Frodin, 77, was born in Chicago June 29, 1890. She came to Wonder Lake from Chicago eighteen years ago. Her husband, Frank E., died March 6, 1957. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. George (Lois) Rakushin, of McHenry; one son, Raymond E., of Wonder Lake; three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; a brother, Emmons Carlson, of MiamijFla.; and a sister, Mi s. Charles (Lucille) Bennett of Chicago. Besides her husband, a son, Dale F., preceded her in death. A funeral service was read at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday after- MRS. JENNIE MANCINI Mrs. Jennie Mancini, mother of Mrs. Robert J. Frisby of McHenry, died unexpectedly at her home in Chicago, Wednesday morning, July 19, at the age of 69. Anderson Family Reunion Held At Ben Miller Home The home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Miller of McHenry was the setting for the fourth annual reunion of the Karl Anderson, Sr., family. Thirty-nine members attended from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Minnesota. Florence Miller Peterson, Mrs. Joyce Wessinger and Anthony Wessinger came the farthest from Hastings, Minn. Signa Anderson Miller was the senior member present as well as hostess and president. Mrs. Miller's great-grandson, Tony Wessinger, 11% months, was the junior member present. Mrs. Robert Bykowski of Eastwood Manor served as secretary. A pert-luck dinner was held at the noon hour followed by a short business meeting. Plans were made to hold the reunion in Plymouth, Ind., on July 20, 1968. Mr. and Mrs. Gunnard Anderson were elected president and secretary respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson1 were one time McHenry resi-' dents. A note of s&dness was present because of the recent passing of a brother, Arthur Anderson of Fairborn, Ohio, on June 19, 1967. Mr. Anderson and his wife were also erne time McHenry residents. Mr. and Mrs. Gunnard Anderson recently returned from a Swedish and European tour, brought greetings from Mrs. Otilia Westerburg Anderson of Stockholm, Sweden.
