A Mass will be sung for the couple that day at 9 o'clock in St. John's church, with a dinner and reception for invited guests followed by open house. Clarence Etten and Bernice Diedrich were married Aug. 5, 1942, at St. John the Baptist Catholic church by Rev. Fr. A.J. Neidert. They make their home at 6015 Rt. 31, Ringwood. The Ettens have five sons, Jim, just returned after a year of service in Vietnam; Kenneth, a college student; Allen, Donald and Michael at homo. Georgia Blake Is Shower Guest A miscellaneous bridal shower last week at the homaof Mrs. David Zank honored Miss Georgia Blake. About thirty guests attended the party, at which Mrs. A1 Freund and Mrs. Zank acted as co-hostesses. Miss Blake will be married Aug. 12 in St. Mary's Catholic church to Harry Hogan. Junior Forester Girls Plan Picnic Girl Junior members of St. Clara's Court, No. 659, will have their picnic Wednesday, Aug. 2, from noon until 3 o'clock at the city park. Free lunch and refreshments will be provided. All Girl Foresters of any age are welcome. Games and prizes will be included on the program. Mrs, Thompson tfeted At Party Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson was guest of honor at a surprise family gathering at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nick Adams, Wednesday evening, the occasion being her seventy-ninth birthday anniversary. • Present were her sons, John and wife of Kansasville, Wis., Charles of Woodstock and James and wife of McHenry; her daughters, Mrs. Agnes Adams and husband and Mrs. Betty Clark and husband of McHenry and Mrs. Mary Grace Messman and h jsband of Woodstock. Others attending were her sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Worts and Mrs. Helen Moriarity and husband and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Unable to be here for the party were her sons, George of ReeSeville, Wis.,and Edward of Omaha, Nebr. Jehova Women In Training Session Should women be ministers? Jehovah's Witnesses, in recognition of the Bible precedent at Romans v16:l, feel they should. In fact, they feel that every Christian should be a minister, regardless of sex, and have therefore been described as a "society of ministers." Dominick Fontana, presiding minister of the Woodstock congregation, has announced that women ministers from the local congregation are planning to attend the four-day training session arranged by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. The dates of this assembly are July 27 through 30 at the Memorial coliseum in Madison, Wis. ON HONOR ROLL Kathleen H. Dumaski of 4407 S. Roberts road, Susan C. Farr of 505 N. North blvd., Philip J. Giuntoli of 711 Country Club drive, Lorraine Lid of 2002 S. Rt. 31 and Janice K. Sturm of 2926 N. Shorewood, McHenry, were among a record 740 Northern Illinois university undergraduates who were announced on the spring semester honor roll compared with 584 in the spring of 1966 and 617 last autumn. MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WOODSTOCK Parents admitted during the past week in Memorial hospital, Woodstock, included Evelyn May, Spring Grove; Ida Schmidt, Master Patrick Cristy, Edward Gallas and Neva Fuhrer, Wonder Lake; John Miller, Agnes Schwingl, Edith Marris and Loretta Juerjens, McHenry. HARVARD HOSPITAL Mrs. Orlo Mc Mahon and George Kalschof McHenry and Mrs. David Miller, Ringwood, were patients during the past week in Harvard hospital. 350 Guests At 25th Anniversary Of McHenry Couple About 350 persons were present at the silver wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pitzen of 3904 W. Grove avenue last Saturday evening, held at the Legion home. Prior to the open house a Mass in their honor was sung at St. Mary's Catholic church, followed by a reception and dinner. Ted Pitzen and Lorraine Stilling wore married July 22,1942, in St. Mary's church by Msgr. C.S. Nix. They have always made their home in McHenry. The couple has six children, Kathleen, Michael, John, Patricia, Theodore and Annette. Attendents at their wedding twenty-five years ago all of whom attended the anniversary celebration, were Mrs. Edward Doyle, sister of ths bride, who acted as maid of honor; Lawrence Pitzen of Round Lake, brother of the groom, who was best man; Bernice Pitzen Hausheer of Chicago, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid; and Harold Stilling of McHenry, brother of the bride, who was groomsman. JULY 27, 1967 - PLAINDEALER - SEC. I, PG. 3 HERBERT EMMERING Services will be conducted at the Cicero Bible church, 2230 S. Laramie avenue, Cicero, on Thursday, July 27, at 1:30 o'clock for Herbert Emmering, 63, who died July 24 at MacNeal Memorial hospital, B&rwyn, following, a short illness. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West, Elmhurst. Mr. Emmering was a resident of 4231 Scoville, Berwyn. Survivors are his wife, Winifred; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Carlson, nurse in charge of intensive care unit, McHenry hospital, and Mrs. Nancy Marshall of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one son, Dr. Thomas E. Emmering, Wheaton. Until the time of last rites, the body rests at the Emmering chapel, 6126 Roosevelt road, Oak Park. ^BIRTHS j OTHER BIRTHS A son, Michael Stephen, was born July 15 to Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Bernard, M?Henry, at Lutheran General hospital, Park Ridge. The young lad weighed 7 lbs. 8 ozs. Mr. and Mrs. James Kosior welcomed a baby girl on July 24 at Lake Forest hospital. She was named Lisa Marie and weighed 7 lbs., 3 ozs. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Leight. Paternal ones are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kosior and the greatgrandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Neja. BIRTHS MCHENRY HOSPITAL On July 17 a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jensen, Fox Lake. A daughter was born July 17 to Mr. and Mrs. Randall Patience of Crystal Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Rowan Minton are parents of a daughter July 17. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Majcher of Crystal Lake became parents of a daughter July 20. A daughter was born July 20 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Gillman of Spring Grove. ELIZABETH (BESSIE) SAPICO Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth Bessie) Sapico, a local resident for twenty-six years, died Sunday, July 23, in Memorial hospital, Woodstock. She was 76 years of age. „ Mrs. Sapico, a resident of Cleveland drive, West Shore Beach, was born Feb. 29, 1891, in Chicago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Julie) Hartzler of LaMirada, Calif., and Mrs. Gilbert (Patricia) Stanley of Spring Grove; three grandchildren and two brothers. Her husband and one son, Emmett, preceded her in death, the former in 1955. The body rested at the George R. Justen & Son chapel, where services were conducted at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, with Rev. Raymond White of Community Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Mount Auburn cemetery, Stickney, 111. HURT IN ACCIDENT The condition of Kenneth Kohl of 2312 Country lane, McHenry, was reported "satisfactory" Wednesday morning at McHenry hospital, where he was taken Sunday following a motorcycle accident on rough gravel near his home. CAR FIRE Firemen of Company I were called to the Guettler garage on Front street about noon Sunday when a spark set a car afire as the engine was being removed. DON PF.ASLF.Y PHOTO Student Council Sets Theme For 1967 Homecoming The 1967 Student Council of M.C.H.S. had its second summer meeting last Thursday, July 20, at the homo of President Libby Stinespring. Among topics up for discussion were possible quarterly exchanges with Woodstock and Crystal I^ake, a welcome committee for new M.C.H.S. students and the dress code. Committees were set up for homecoming and the theme decided. The float theme will be Broadway Miniatures and the gym will be decorated as "Emerald City" from "Wizard, of Oz". Much preparation is put into homecoming by the Council each year and a big turn-out of students and alumni is planned for. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 22.
