Bixhy, chairman and also vice-president of the association, to Mr. Jacobsen of th6 Wonder Lake Realty Trust regarding work done on the da™ by Consoer, Townsend and Associates, who surveyed and made repairs, was found and inspected by the committee to be in A-l condition with only a few minor defaults, the first being to groove and grout open water leak in access manhole; second, ladders weren't given a finish coat of paint and third, four very small cracks overlooked. The flat rock and various grades of gravel were recommended to be used in thfe bulk heads to prevent the walls from eroding. WEDDING BELLS Tom Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller, Deep Spring Woods, will claim Miss Ardis May, Johnsburg, at St. John's church, Johnsburg, Saturday, August 12 at 3 p.m. as his bride. BIRTHDAY Happy birthday to Ed Cannon, Jr., Shore Hills, today, August 10. SILVER ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John Noble Wonder Woods, celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary, August 3. SYMPATHY Our condolences to the family of Mrs. Marie Harrington, 7416 Birch Dr., Wonder Center, who passed away July 28 in McHenry hospital. KOSTAL-PETERSON VOWS Miss Kathryn (Kathy) Kostal, Wonder Lake, and Vernon Peterson, McHenry, were united in marriage, Saturday, July 29, at Christ the King. Miss Lorelle Vacula, Wonder Lake was her maid of honor. The cotqile will reside in Warren, where they both will be teaching school. MODELS AT FAIR Miss Louise Ruggero was a model for the fashion show held during the Miss McHenry County contest at the county fair. RUNNER-UP Miss Nancy Gaub, 6 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gaub, Wooded Shores, w«s second runner-up in the Kiwanis Little Miss Peanut contest held Monday, July 31 in McHenry. ENGAGEMENT The engagement of Miss Vicky Ascola, McHenry, to Patrick Letizia, Wonder Lake, now serving in the U.S. Navy, has been announced by her mother', Mrs. Paul Ascola. ANOTHER ENGAGEMENT Hie engagement of Miss Lynne Schultz, McCullom Lake, to Mr. Leonard Benson, son of the Gor don Bensons, of Woodstock, formerly of Wonder Lake, now serving in the UJS. Army in Hawaii, has been an-, nounced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Schultz. A December wedding is being planned. Lenny was the organist at Nativity church prior to entering the service in January of this year. CHRIST THE KING NEWS A two week vacation church school is being held from Monday, August 7, thru Fridays August, 18. Father Gaynor is on vacation and will not be available, until August 13. MERITS HONOR ROLL Christine Oleszczuk, 7104 Chippewa drive has been named to the Northern Illinois University undergraduate Spring semester honor roll. NATIVITY CHURCH NEWS The next important date in celebration of the fifteenth anniversary program is Wednesday, August 30 at 8 p.m. This will be a "Mass Meeting at Harrison School"- a re-enactment of the original Wednesday evening service called to determine interest in a new congregation in Wonder Lake. Also, 132 members of the Wonder Lake boys baseball team left Harrison school at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Ai^ust 3, and traveled to Cub's Park. The boys had more fun than the Cubs, the Cubs lost. Lew Smith, Shore Mils, president of the League, "wants all the boys to know that he and the other chaperones reported that they were the BEST behaved group in the park." HURT Danny Spanitz, 15 years old, Shore Hills, was hurt in a skiing accident, Saturday, August 5 at the Shore Hills Beach. 4-H NfcWS The Wonder Workers put cm their skit "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" at the county fair. They were the winner in the Share-the-Fun contest held this Spring. TOUR PARTS OF COUNTRY Mrs. Gerald Elbersen, Mrs. Nancy Elbersen, and Miss Cheryl Elbersen, all of Indian Ridge, along with Patti Freund of Shore Hills toured Niagara Falls and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and also took in Detroit, the Allegheny Mountains and Pennsylvania. CONGRATULATIONS To Miss Helen Palko, Wonder Lake's entry in the Miss McHenry County contest held last week during the Fair. She was voted by the other contestants as Miss Congenialty Bnd also was in the top five contestants. Congratulations, again, Helen, we are very proud of you. VACATION IS OVER Mrs. Mae Kane, who resides with the Fred Bethkes, Oakwood Shores, returned this week from a trip to the West with Mends from Chicago. PERSONAL SHOWER A personal shower was given by Mrs. Joseph (Janice) Bores, Glen Ellyn, in honor of her sister, Miss Shirley Johnson, in the Andrew Johnson home, Wooded Shores. Guests were from Chicago, Downers Grove, Woodstock, and Wonder Lake. Shirley will become the bride of Mr. Robert Berna, Woodstock, this Saturday at Nativity. GABELS WELCOME FIRST GRANDCHILD Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gabel, Wonder Center, welcomed their first grandchild, a girl, born to their daughter, Pam, and her husband Ron Diederich, McHenry. The baby arrived Friday, August 4, at Woodstock hospital, has been named Kimberly Elizabeth and weighed in at 8 lbs. 4 oz. Besides the Gables, the paternal grandparents, are the Leo Diederichs, Johnsburg, and the maternal great-grandmothers are Mrs. Elizabeth Fiala and Mrs. Lydia Gabel, both of Wonder Lake. Congratulations to all!! YOUNG AT HEART The group had a picnic for members and their children at the homes of the Tony Willigs and the Gerhard Scholzes of Shore Hills on Wednesds^, August 2, for a day of swimming and eating. The next meeting will be Wednesday, August 23, atthe Christ the King hall when they will start a needlepoint class. Enrollment was held for two new members. They were Kathiryn Low and Mercedes Morenz, both sponsored by Florence Tussey. College of Regents Chairman Ethel Hagberg reported that she still needs donations of canned goods for the basket of food to be given away Aug. 15. The special award for the evening was won by our new candidate, Mercedes Morenz. Florence Tussey received the attendance award which was a little extra special. Don't forget Star Recorder Night Aug. 15, which will be pot-luck. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Deputy Grand Regent Magdalene Remsing. Get-well wishes go to EAm Petlak, who just got out of the hospital. Congratulations to Harriet Gill, who is now Mrs. Russell McGrane. In the last Women of the Moose News I stated that we held the Green Tassel ceremony instead of the Red Tassel ceremony. Sorry about that, ladies. Aug. 19, the date for the annual Hawaiian Luau sponsored by the Women of the Moose, is coming up fast. Roast pig, chicken, fish and shrimp are the main dishes, plus manor other exotic foods.
