i jwSk. • . w.vv LAKELAND PARK NEWS Carole Hum&nn 388-1606 Scouts Return From Jamboree in Boise, Idaho The boys are rack after attending the World Boy Scout Jamboree in Boise, Idaho. They returned on Sunday morning after.. a two day train ride in . a car filled with Boy Scouts. ' Ron Meurer, Ron Bierman and Joe Prazak picked them iip at the depot in Chicago for the . final leg of the journey back to McHenry. Clark Bierman, Paul Rogers, Alan Meur- . er, Don Prazak, Chuck Campo, Larry Glorch and Mike Koch made the trip. The Boy Scouts stayed at the Circle. KD Ranch twentyfive miles from Spokane, Wash., and they visited the Jamboree cm Tuesday and Wednesday. While there, they toured the site and met lots of boys from other countries. They had a trading post for souveniers and * lot of the boys swapped patches and other items with other Scouts. On the first night of the Jamboree a fireworks display was held and afterwards kids from different countries put on sldts and then got together for a grand finale and Indian dancing. While the boys stayed at the Circle KD they were able to go horse-back riding and water skiing. Some of the boys went on a hike into the mountains where they saw caves and such other interesting things. The surrounding country was pretty hilly with lots of pine trees. The pine cones averaged about a foot each. Some of the boys slept in tents and roughed it to earn badges for cooking and other things. They also had a few turns at the rifle range. On the trip home they were able to get off the train occasionally and do some souvenier hunting. They had a great time and really enjoyed the trip from start to finish. This was the first Jamboree ever held in the United States. While they were there films were being made for showing cm television later in August. DEN 1 - CUB SCOUTS Den 1 went on a bike hike last week around the subdivision with their den mothers. Barb Meurer and Delores Rogers. On their way they stopped for an ice cream break which all enjoyed. STORK-GRAM 1 A new little addition has arrived at the Foszcz' much to the delight of the entire family. Keith Joseph put in his first appearance on Monday, July 31, at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, at 4:42 a.m. He weighed 7 It, 2 oz. at birth and measured 19 Inches from tip to toe. His mom and dad, Chris and Gene, brought him home on Thursday to his sisters, Karen, Debbie, Pam and Monica. The girls are really enjoying taking care of their little brother. The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bargo of Chicago and the paternal granc&arents are Mr. and Mrs. John Zurawsld also of Chicago. Keith will be baptized on August 20 at St. Mary's church in McHenry. His Godparents will be his sister, Karen, and his uncle, Joseph Bargo. STORK-GRAM 2 Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McDonough of Mahomet, 111., became the parents of their first child at midnight on Aug. 5. The new mommy is the former Connie Dowell and needless to say the brand new grandparents, Earl and Dorothy, are in seventh heaven. The family drove down to Mahomet on Sunday to see the new baby but only Grandma Dorothy was able to get in to see her. Incidentally it was a girl type baby who has been named Jane Ann. She^ weighed a petite 6 lb. 15 oz./ and is 19 inches long. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Huntley of Poplar Grove. HAPPY BIRTHDAYS After all the baby announcements what more appropriate place for birthday greetings! Jackie Richardson leads off the list with her sixth birthday celebration which appears on the eleventh of August. Keith Stoltz will be a birthday boy that day, too, with eight candles on his cake. Jim Hansen is seventeen that day and Karen Crook will be a birthday girl too. Randy Fergen will be kindergarten age with his fifth birthday on the twelfth. The thirteenth is another busy day with George Hendle, Denise Bucaro and Jimmy Oeffling all claiming it for their day. Jim will be sixteen. Gloria Flannigan and Jerry Rogers share the fourteenth for their subtracting day and Terri Mai will blow out five candles. Margie Becker will also be five years old on Aug. 15 and Rosie Grey .will be nine. Esther Cygan celebrates on the sixteenth and the seventeenth belongs to Jill Wohnrade who will be five and to Mary Mueller who will be three and to MargoSchaedel who isn't telling. Birthday wishes to all of you on your special day. ALL-STARS The Little League All-Star team is really going great guns with only one loss so far. They split a two-game series with Cary to start off .and won three straight with the Crystal Lake Manor All-Star team. The first game was played on Monday, July 31 in Crystal Lake and our team won 4-3 in eight innings. On Wednesday they played the same team here and won again by a score of 17-8. Friday night was the final game of the series and they won again with four runs and the Crystal Lake team went scoreless. The team is scheduled to play a series with Wonder Lake beginning on Aug. 19. The minor league team played Cary cm Sunday afternoon and lost in the last inning by a score of 4-3. They had another game scheduled for Monday evening and the score will be reported next week. CUB SCOUTS All Cub Scouts and potential Cub Scouts and their parents are invited to attend the first meeting of Pack 459 on Monday, Aug. 21, at the community house. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. with refreshments served after the meeting. The monthly meetings will be held regularly beginning with this one on the third Monday of each month. They are timed so that the boys will not be getting home too late. All parents are to attend with their sons as the pack meetings are family affairs. COMMUNITY HOUSE SCHEDULE All bookings and cancellations for the community house are to be made in advance by calling Jo Rizzo at 385-2728. People using the community house are asked to turn off all lights before leaving to avoid running up needless electric bills. Their cocker spaniel has a suitor who is so persistant that he even scratches on the door for them to let him in and won't take no for an answer. They don't know who belongs to this amorous gentlemen but they wish whoever does would keep him home. The only description we have is that he is black and white and hangs around on Willow near Flower. If this is your dog make a homebody of him if only to do your bit for the puppy population explosion. Get-well wishes to Kay Druml who is convalescing at Sherman hospital in Elgin after surgery on Monday. She could probably use some cheery cards about now. Eddie and the boys could too, but Grandma Oswald is doing her bit by inviting them for dinner. They had dinner with them on Sunday as did the Hermans. Here's to you, Kay, and hope you're home directing traffic in jig time. Bev's sister, 5ayne Hjerstedt, will be spending the week with the Wickenkamps. Les and Nedra Eckhart and Bill spent Saturday in Norridge where they helped to celebrate their brother-in-law's birthday. LeroyDalton was the birthday boy and they had a great time. The Sweeney family has really been having a great time of it with birthday parties and christenings and such. Colleen celebrated her sixth birthday on July 29 with a group of kids coming in the afternoon for the usual birthday menu and games. Attending the lawn party were Pam and Patti Mullen, Chris and -Paul Knapik, Bobby and Gail Hutt, Donimic Visconti, Ansia, Anna and Antoinette Visconti, Carl Pearson, Terri Licastro and Michelle Fish. Later in the evening a barbecue was held to celebrate Christine's birthday which was really June 26. Hot dogs with the trimmings and a birthday cake with eleven candles were served to the guests who were Kathy Jo Becker, Debbie Harrison, Carol Brda, Kristi Weyland, Rae Ellen Smith, Tammy Justen, Marianne Einspar, Diane Butler, Shirley Basel, Elaine Bottari, and Darlene Licastro. On Sunday the newest Sweeney was baptized at St. Mary's church by Father Rudden. Frank and Mary Therese were godparents for the little guy who was born on July 12. Patrick Michael and the rest of the family piled into the car along with a huge cake and, all the rest of the goodies to drive into Chicago for an open house held at his grandparents' home. Grandpa Pfammater who admits to ninety years is unable to travel so. they took the party to him. Loads of friends and .relations came to visit and to pay their respects to the new baby. Tracy and David Wilkens aren't too happy lately since their bikes were stolen. Tracy's was found by the police in a vacant lot but David is still walking. Too bad when kids are the victims of someone who hasn't been taught respect for some one elses property. The bus will leave St. John's school at 8:30 a.m. and will return somewhere around 5:30 p.m. While there, the group will tour W.T.M.J. Radio City, a brewery and the conservatory. HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL Everyone will be most happy to know that Mrs. Janice Bartman is now home from the McHenry hospital where she spent about a month. VACATIONING FOLKS The "Pete" Peterson family returned to their home last week after a leisure week's vacation way up North. Mary Hettermann and her. children spent several days vis- ' iting with her sister in Milton, ; Wis. The Wisconsin Dells and points of interest there aboats kept the Roger Pechous family for several days recently. They returned home .and still continued short jaunts until Rog had to return to work. Gary Hettermann of College Park, Georgia, spent his vacation of the farm of his aurit and uncle, the Joe E. Freunds. While here, he also visited other relatives.
