ABBINK FAMILY WEDDING Saturday, Sept. 9, was a red letter day for the Abbinks as they traveled to Skokie to at- , tend the wedding of Vi's niece. Phyliss Berens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berens, was a beautiful bride as she marched down the aisle of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Skokie, to become Mrs. Jack Wesselman. Lynda Abbink served as a bridesmaid for her cousin, as did the bride's two sisters, Janet and Patti Berens. The bride's brother, Dick served as an usher. A reception for 200 guests was held at the Morton Grove American Legion. A full weekend of celebration, there were parties on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and even a post-wedding party at the home of the bride's family on Sunday. The newlyweds departed on Sunday afternoon for Denver, Colo., where they have an apartment and the groom will be employed. OFF TO COLLEGE John Hale, son of Bonnie and John Hale, has left for Macomb where he will attend Western Illinois University. RECUPERATING FROM SURGERY Vi Abbink's mom, known to most of us as Grandma Berens, is staying with Vi for a few days while she recuperates from surgery. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery. KONECNYS MOVE It was with regret that we bid farewell to our neighbors, the Konecnys, who departed for Green Bay, Wis., recently. Evelyn and her son, Dale, will reside in Green Bay, but Kathy, patiently waiting for her husband, Ronald Zank, to return from Viet Nam, is staying here in McHenry with her brotherin- law and sister-in-law, Carol and David Zank, until Ron returns. P.S. He's due here soon! PROGRESS REPORT I'm pleased to report that my Dad, Edward Wilier, is making progress in his battle with tuberculosis. Confined to Suburban Sanatorium in Hinsdale since last June 15, he was able to come home for a weekend pass for the first time on Sept. 9 and 10. The excellent care he received is reflected in his pink cheeks, added weight and an overall appearance which we haven't seen in several years. ^GREETINGS Happynbirthday to Gary Connell Who will be 12 years old on the twenty-third to Helen Suman on the twenty-sixth and to Bill Abbink on the twentyseventh.
