Former 8 Engagement 43: * ? 5 Ml ... CATHERINE COLMAN Mr. and Mrs. William Colman of 4810 N. 69th drive, Phoenix, Ariz., announce the recent engagement of their daughter, Catherine Bernadette, to Douglas Parfilio, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parfilio of Phoenix. The young couple plan a July 5, 1968 wedding. Miss Colman graduated from St. Mary's parochial school and Phoenix high school* Later she attended both Elgin community college in Illinois and Phoenix college. Her fiance attended Phoenix college and is now serving as an interpreter with the Marines In Vietnam. Catherine's mother is the former Elaine Landgren of McHenry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Landgren. No plaster or wall board at all was used in construction of the house. Everything is wood panelled, even to the ceilings, where cedar planking is used. Ceilings throughout the house are beamed which gives an interesting and unusual effect. Even the bathrooms are panelled in cedar and have cherry wood cabinets. To carry out the effect they Honor Marie Gorgo On 77th Birthday Sunday, Sept. 17, was a perfect day for a lawn party given in honor of Marie Gorgo by her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Wi^iam Gorgo, of LaGrange Parlvr celebrating her seventyseventh birthday. Attending the festivities were her sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gorgo of McHenry, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gorgo of Chicago, James Dercole, son-in-law, and son, Greg, of McHenry, and the following grandchildren: Messrs, and Mesdames Andrew Dercole of DesPlaines, George Motto of Elmwood Park, Jack Reese, James M. Dercole and John Mascari of McHenry. Friends present were Mrs. Charles Auriema and Florence of Chicago, Mr. andMrs. Seep of LaGrange Park. Linda Marie Gorgo and Mike Turner gave a helping hand in making the party a success. The lawn gave the appearance of a sidewalk in Paris, with tables and diners. A huge table was complete with roasts, various other foods and desserts of all description, as well as, coffee and punch. Those who attended said it was reminiscent of a famous chuck wagon. Mrs. Gorgo said it was well worth the trip from McHenry to enjoy the family reunion, and particularly to hear the laughter of fourteen greatgrandchildren. She also commented: "I have the most wonderful family in the world." She came home laden with gifts and "greenbacks" from her family and friends. Mrs. Gorgo is the same person who is beloved for her work at McHenry hospital snack bar. She volunteered 5,641 hours, from January of 1962 through October of 1966. She is by no means a newcomer to McHenry county. She came here as a summer resident in 1925. Mrs. Gorgo says she feels this is a fine place to meet fine people. Mrs. B.B. Neuchiller, general chairman of the benefit re-sale sponsored fay the Easter Seal women's auxiliary for McHenry county is shown in center addressing folders to be sent out in the county concerning the event. Assisting her at the left is Mrs. John Eggum and at the right, Mrs. Karl Koch. It's the big event of the year. One especially interesting piece is a hand carved, two-seater couch, once owned by Mr. Wanger's mother, and now in their bedroom. Since the whole Wanger family is so interested in art a portion of the house is a workshop studio. Mrs. Wanger is a fine artist, working in enamelled pictures on copperall of which are framed. She sells many and will probably do a landslide business after her art is represented in a gallery in New York this fall. The Wanger son, Walter, Jr., is a graduate student in easel art at Cornell university. Not to be outdone, Mr. Wanger with no formal art training, makes jewelry of sterling silver and gold. In the last two or three years he has been sculpturing In silver with great success. He still thinks it's great fun to have someone ask to buy one of his pieces. The auxiliary hand knit baby wear, under the direction of Mrs. Frank Mishler, will be on sale at the Wanger home. Although the McHenry county chapter of the Illinois Association for the Crippled has been in operation for seventeen years the auxiliary did not come under discussion until November of 1963 when Mrs. Chester Gould, one of the energetic workers of the Easter Seal board, introduced the idea. This idea became the Easter Seal Women's Auxiliary for McHenry county. By 1964 the auxiliary was in full swing and a plan to develop a project to realize funds for the Easter Seal society became the main objective. It was Mrs. Gould also who asked the Easter Seal auxiliary* s board to consider a re-sale and two years ago this program was launched and not will be a two-year event. The first re-sale was such a success under the direction of Mrs. Gould and the auxiliary INFORMATIVE MEETING OPENS PARENT GROUP The first in a series of five educational and informative meetings, of the Marian Central Parents association proved to be a^success.
