r V^r. ; RINGWOOD NEWS DOLORES BRENNAN 653-9049 FIRE PREVENTION TALK PRESENTED AT CLUB MEETING Glen Petersen of the McHenry Fire Prevention District presented a talk to the members of the Ringwood Community club at its monthly meeting on Sept. 25 at the Ringwood school. Mr. Petersen stressed the importance of fire prevention in and around your home. He also had pamphlets on hand to present to the parents present. Mr. Petersen returned to the Ringwood school on Wednesday to talk to the pupils in the school. All were enthusiastic about going home to see what they could do to prevent fires in their home. As you know, this is Fire-Prevention week. Let's all take the tips Mr. Petersen presented and do what we canto keep our homes safe from fire. BAKE SALE FOR COMMUNITY CLUB On Oct. 17, the Ringwood Community Club will hold a bake sale in the grocery store in Ringwood. I believe the sale will start at 11 a.m. All donations of baked goodies will be greatly appreciated, and all buyers will be welcomed. Green 385 4500 Mothers and Daughters of the area at the Ringwood school thru the efforts of the Ringwood Community club. There was an' exceptionally good turnout of mothers and daughters present to view a film produced by Walt Disney followed by a question and answer period under the direction of Dr. Santo Ruggero of Wonder Lake, followed by the showing of the film for a second time. Dr. Ruggero generously donated his time to share with us. It was greatly appreciated by all. ATTENTION-ALL INTERESTED IN SCOUTS! There will be a meeting held at the school on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. for allinterestedpersons in the starting of a troop for Girl Scouts and Brownies, Thru the efforts of the Community Club, a member of the Elgin Regional District of Girl Scouts will be present to discuss the possibility of forming scouting programs in the Ringwood area. If you are interested in a scouting program for your daughter or would like to help in the starting of one for the community, p!ease try to attend the meeting. CEMETERY SOCIETYANNUAL MEETING The Ringwood cemetery society will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. at 6709 McCulIom Lake road, in the Kenneth Cristy home. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend. LEAVE AFTER BOOT CAMP Tom Walkington returned on Sunday to California, after spending the time from Sept. 29 with his parents, Althea and Paul Walkington. Tom had completed his boot training in Great Lakes and will be stationed at the Naval Air Force Base in El Centro, Calif. ATTEND LUNCHEON Mrs. Ruby Shepard, Mrs. Flora Carr, Miss Mae Wiedrich and Mrs. William Cruickshank attended the salad bar luncheon on Wednesday of the Richmond Garden club, which was held in the Hunter Country Club in Richmond. The luncheon was followed by card playing. VISITS PARENTS Paul Shadle of California spent from Saturday evening until Monday afternoon with his parents, the Wolf Shadles. RETURNS HOME AFTER FLORIDA TRIP Frank Kempfer has returned to Ringwood after spending the past three weeks vacationing in Florida. His granddaughter, Miss Barbara Simon of Chicago, spent the weekend visiting with him. ATTEND SHOWER Mrs. John Lanway and daughter, Karen, Mrs. Charles Brennan, Mrs. Robert Brennan and daughters, Patty and Linda, attended a bridal shower for Violet DeCicco on Sunday afternoon. Hie shower was held in the home of Mrs. James Wegener in McHenry. Miss DeCicco will become the bride of Billy Brennan on Nov. 11. CRIS HOPP HAS PARTY On Saturday, Cris Hopp entertained a group of his friends at a birthday party held in his honor in his home. He received some nice gifts. Games were played, cake and ice cream were served. Cris's birthday was on Monday, but the party waC^&ld on Saturday. NATIVITY LUTHERAN CHURCH NEWS The date of the next clothing appeal, Nov. 19-26 has been set aside for the Thanksgiving clothing appeal of the Lutheran World Relief. The greatest need is for 'blankets and Children clothing. The clothing MUST be packed in strong cartons and tied with heavy cord. Unless this is done the men do not have to pick up the clothing. Men's Club will hold a breakfast and "Trap Shoot 2", Saturday, Oct. 21. For .many of the men of Nativity Saturday Oct. 21 will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. As in the past, the breakfast will be "fit for a king" with plenty to eat. Immediately following the breakfast the men of the church will add to the noise of the hunting season by holding a "trap shoot". Come and test your skill in the exciting sport.
