^ SUNNYSIDE ESTATES Gloria Von Oepen 358-1751 Lucille Lytle 385-1173 ELECT THREE BOARD MEMBERS AT SEHOA MEET The Sunnyside Estates Homeowners . Association meeting took place at the Johnsburg School on Oct. 5. Mr. Segerstrom commented on the good condition of our roads and mentioned that letters and phone calls were made to Mr. Daan about getting rid of unlicensed cars in our subdivision. We hope the guilty parties will have them hauled away without having to be contacted. It was also suggestedthatparents please make it their business to know of their children's behavior at the playground. A good number of the homeowners have been keeping up with their dues. Much can be accomplished with one hundred percent cooperation. Ed Wichman, Bud Lytle and Wally Berg were elected to the board of directors. They will officalfy take office in January. The next board meeting will be at the Seger strom home on Nov. 9. Coffee and cake were served by the Woinen's club after the meeting, CHANGE RESIDENCE Robert and Linda Ray and their three children moved out of their home on Oakleaf drive. We do not know their future address but we wish them lots of luck and hope their stay in Sunnyside Estates wus pleasant. SICK LEST On our sick list this week are Fran Olsen, PatBott, Terri Radtke, Jeff Radtke, Linda Radtke and the little Radtkes. That sore throat sniffle bug hit them allJSorry to report that Millie Kropf was ill, but she is feeling better now. ROSES TO A COUPLE OF SWEET GIRLS In last week's column, Terri Radtke wrote the 4H news. We think that she did a wonderful job and she will be writing the future 4H news for as long as she wishes to continue. We think it is great for a girl her age to be interested in doing this. Diane Voight will be our re- . porter on the Forester meeting every month. Roses to you also Diane. We hope these girls will encourage more children into these various activities. HERE AND THERE Gloria Von Oepen, and son, Bobby, spent Friday in Chicago visiting her mother and niece. There she was surprised by the presence of her schoolmate, Mrs. Barbara Posch.and her six month old daughter, whom Gloria hasn't seen since the baby was three and one half weeks old. She is really changed and keeps her mother hopping, as she is crawling now and very inquisitive, as a lot of babies are around that age. They had a nice lunch and a wonderful visit. On Saturday, Gloria's sister, Elaine, and her daughter, Hollie, came out to spend the weekend. Sally Segerstrom, Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 452, attended the University of Scouting on Sunday, Oct. 8. It was a four hour training session in which she learned how to keep up the boys' enthusiasm. Sounds very interesting. Vi Williamr held a demonstration at her home on Thursday night. Present were her mother, Mrs. Ben Larsoa, from Genoa City, her aunt, Mrs. Jean Larson, and daughters, Mrs. Charles Caley and daughters, Donna and Diane, and daughter-in-law, Pam, and Gloria Von Oepen. Florence and Ceec Kanter attended a get-together of cousins at Flo's brother's home in Roselle. They had a wonderful time getting "acquainted" again, as they haven't seen each other in "years". Helge Dettlow is now semiretired. He enjoys being at home but that irresistable urge to "get out and work" still overcomes htm. We are happy to report that Frank BabarsKy is out of the hospital and feeling better. Jack and Lu Davis' son, John is now training copter pilots on gun s!iips at Fort Rusker, Ala. That's quite a responsibility. The Walter Bergs entertained Jim and Peggy Blake and their two children on Saturday evening. Mike Major's fiance, Mary Larkin, who is in her second year of nurses training at St. Therese's hospital, visited with the Steve Majors Saturday. Steve, .Ir.'s wife, Margaret, and their children were oh hand for a Saturday evening dinner and visit. They will be returning to Florida shortly. Tommy Hanahan spent the weekend camping with the Herman family of Jak-Ana Heights. They visited the Cave of the Mounds at the Wisconsin State Park land didn't particularly enjoy the rain. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Joan Walczynski and La Verne Jost took Millie Kropf out fdr a surprise luncheon. It was a little belated but I'm sure that she enjoyed it just as much. Such nice friends. Ed and Judy Misek are the proud parents of a baby boy. Born in Woodstock hospital, he came into the world weighing 6 lbs. and 5 oz. He ingoing to be named Edward Jay. Congratulations! OUR HERO Our Bill Kuechel ran 85 yards for a touchdown on a kickoff return in the North Chicago vs. McHenry game. This unusual feat was written up in a big Chicago newspaper. Our team is tied for first place with no losses for the year. GO TEAM! The Noah and Fuqua families went to the home of Gerry liicks in Pistakee Highlands, to celebrate Kelly Noah's birthday. Mrs. Dicks had a lovely cake and all had a grand time. Dad received a nice wallet from his children, Debbie, Donna, Diane and David. On Sunday the Noahs went into Chicago to celebrate Kelly's and LaVerne's father's birthday. Kelly received some nice shirts from LaVerne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnston. Ann Radtke was invitedtoher mother's house in Chicago on Friday for her birthday celebration. Her mother, Mrs. Eggedrecht; had baked a beautiful cake. Her girl friend, Lori Zonda, and her mother, Mrs. Blaketa, were there to help celebrate, but the biggest surprise of all was that her brother, Jerry, who is in the Air Force and stationed in Florida was there. Ann only gets to see him once a year so it was quite an occasion. Ann even brojght a couple of extra children along with her. Her sister wasn't feeling, well so Ann stopped in and picked up the little ones so that she could go to the doctor. Thank God for sisters. Stan Walczynski spent a nici birthday at home with his family, which is quite a celebration in itself. He had a nice dinner and received many gifts. Teddy Voight celebrated his birthday on the ninth with his family. He chose his favorite supper that night, which is spaghetti. There was also birthday cake with all the trimmings. He got his cowboy boots, which he's been enjoying very much. This weekend the Voights are going into Chicago to June's mother's homo where there will be another celebration for Teddy. It has been a sad household at the Radtkes since the death of their pet Schnauzer, Schnopps. He never recovered from an operation he had. Terri worked hard to train him and the loss hit pretty hard. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Happy birthday on the nineteenth to Roy Gowin and Jimmy Williams, who will be eleven. Mike Major will be a year older on the twentieth. The twenty-first is Lillian Kelso* s day to celebrate. Best wishes to you all. , ACCEPT LATE REGISTRATIONS FOR YMCA EVENTS , The Lake Region YMCA will continue to accept late registrations for all activities listed in the fall schedule until Friday, Oct. 27. To avoid damaging the starch in corn, kernel temperature during drying should not go above 140 decrees F. You need to look at what overdrying costs. University of Illinois specialists say the value of corn decreases in direct proportion to the decrease in moisture below 15.5 percent. Also, the drying costs increase. If the market price of corn is $1.10 a bushel, at 13-percent mo'sture the cost of moisture loss is 3.16 cents a bushel. At 10-percent moisture, the cost is 6.7 cents a bushel. GREAT VACATION When you win in Las Vegas, you are bound to have a good time. That's exactly what Don and Dolores Gerstein did. They gambled, attended shows, swam, toured the Hoover D?im and drove 180 miles to see Scotty*s Death Bailey Castle, out in the middle of nowhere. They did a little bit of everything, except rest. The highlight of their trip was flying into Chicago at night. The Iigftts . , , , , are just fantastic. ; ^W^vebeen in the baking business for 50 years.
