Oak street, McHenry, celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, which occurred Oct. 10, with a three-week trip to Europe. Their itinerary covered one city in each country as follows: Madrid, Sp|in; Athens, Greece; Rome, Italy; Lucerne, Switzerland; Munich, Germany; Copenhagen, Denmark and Paris, France. : In Sweden they called on many relatives of Mr. Benson a&l in London, England, were guests of friends. With the exception of a few train rides, the trip was entirely by plane. Bette Mae Orr, daughter of Mrs. Esther Orr, and Glenn Benson of Richmond were married Oct. 10, 1942, in the Community Methodist church and have lived in McHenry all their married life. They have three children, Jim, 21 and senior at Illinois university; Sandy, 18, employed in Chicago; and Terri, 11, in sixth grade at Edgebrook. YOUNG McHENRY MUSICIANS ARE DANCE FEATURES The first Lake Region YMCA Junior high dance at the Lakewood village tail, was greeted by the attendance of 125 boys and girls who thoroqghly enjoyed the live music of an enthusiastic group of young musicians from McHenry. The second dance of the year is slated for Friday, Nov. 10. with all seventh and eighth grade boys and girls who reside in the service area invited to attend. The doors open at 7:10 pun. and the music begins at 7:30 and concludes promptly at 10 p.m. ?)iis month's dance will feature another live group. The policy of bringing in a variety of different musical groups from the vicinity will, if met withtbe stamp of approval from tbeyouth, be continued and suggestions for groups wishing to be heard are welcomed. The dances are conducted for the enjoyment of the youth; however, certain rules of conduct are strictly followed. Dress forboth boys and girls is school apparel. Adequate adult supervision is present for the entire evening, and no youth is allowed to enter or leave the premises without parental permission between 8 and 10 p.m. Because the Lake wood village hall, 2500 W. Lake street, Crystal Lake, is located in a remote area, parents of the youth attending are requested to see that their boys and girls are picked up promptly at 10 P«Ai« Admission is free to YMCA member and non-members are admitted for a small charge for fiie evening. Refreshments will be available for 5 cents a serving. Additional information is available by calling the Lake Region YMCA from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on week days and on Saturday mornings. Home-School Meet Features Speaker St. Patrick" s Home and School association will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 3:15 o'clock in the church hall. Guest speaker will be a member of the McHenry school board. Mrs. Lois Miller and her fifth grade mothers will serve refreshments. CHAIRMEN FOR TWELFTH ANNUAL SNOW BALL NAMED Pearl Kaester, chairman of the twelfth annual Snow Ball dance sponsored by the Lakeland Park Women's club, has appointed Arlene Bartos as chairman of decorations and posters and Lyda Radisch as ticket and publicity chairman. J^zJLencLcuv SILENT FILM NICKELODEON PRESENTATION "The Mark of Zorro", a silent released on Nov. 29, 1920, will be shown in the second of the Nickelodeon presentations at 7:30 in the Woodstock Opera House on Saturday, Nov. 11. Douglas Fairbanks, one of the greatest of the old theatre names ,, appears as Don Diego Vega, an aristocrat of Spanish California who seems content to loaf through life in fancy clothes and rich surroundings. STANGES PLAN SURPRISE FOR CLUB PROGRAM 0 The regular* meeting of the Friendship club will be at the Community Methodist church cm Saturday, Nov. 11. As usual, a pot-luck dinner will be served buffet style at 6 p.m. The hosts for this meeting will be Lilah and Bill Jordan, Frieda and Einar Olsen and Ruth and John Godtfredsen.1 The program will be in charge of Bertha and Elmer Stange. They are planning a surprise program that should interest every one. Miscellaneous Shower Honors Miss Freund Miss Trudy Freund was guest of honor at a recent miscellaneous shower given in the home of Mrs. Donna Mas car i, with Miss Roxanne Freund as cohostess. Thirty-five guests enjoyed the party, for which decorations were in the colors of pink and white. Miss Freund was presented with a variety of lovely gifts and a tasty lunch was served. Now a student at Eastern Illinois university, Miss Freund will become a bride later this month. Sisters Enjoy Birthday Party Saturday, Nov. 4, was a day of celebration for Ann Mary, and her sister, Ssthdra Mary, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reese, whose birthday anniversaries occur just a few days apart. Eighteen little girls, all pupils at St. Patrick's school, were invited to enjoy the birthday cake and other treats and to play their favorite games. The honored guests received the congratulations of their great - grandmother, Marie Gorgo, of McHenry and their grandmother, Mrs. William Reese, of Woodstock. UNIVERSITY ENROLLMENT Illinois State university's 11,072 students this fall come from ninety-nine of Illinois' 102 counties, including McHenry county with eighty-seven compared to seventy-six last year. EDLA ANTONSON HOME AFTER FIVE MONTHS ABROAD Mrs. Edla Antonson has returned from a five-month trip to Sweden, three of which were spent in Stockholm. While there, she was visited by her two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Antonson and son, Michael, an1 Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Antonson, who flew to Europe. After they left, she spent two months in the country with her brother and sister. Mrs. Antonson SHiJ she enjoyed the boat trip to Europe and the return trip by plane very much. She spent some time with her son and family in New Jersey, one week prior to making the trip abroad and three weeks upon her return. MARTINI Announcement has been made of the marriage last summer in San Remo, Italy, of Lucinda C. Fradinardo to Sergio L. Martini. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Fradinardo of M.;Henry and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Martini of San Remo, Italy. The coup! 2 honeymooned in Switzerland, France and Italy and recently returned to the United States aboard the Italian liner Raffello. The newlyweds are temporarily making their home in McHenry. River Rd Club 385-267l Mc Henry GOP Speakers Address Clubs Next Monday evening, Nov. 13, State Senate Whip Robert Coulson will speak to the McHenry County Young Republicans at the home of Tom Henley, 348 High road in Cary, starting at 8:15. Besides being the majority whip in the State Senate, Senator Coulson is the elected member of the GOP State Central committee from the 12th Congressional district. The former mayor of Waukeganwas first elected to this party post in June, 1966. . Individuals under 35 who are interested in promoting the Republican party are invited. Teen age Republicans will meet Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in Room 268 at the Crystal Lake Community high school. Ted Wickman of McHenry, chairman of the Republican Central committee of McHenry county, will speak on Senator Percy. George Lindberg, State Representative, will speak on the results of the latest session of the Illinois General Assembly. At TAR's previous meeting, a hootenany was held. Anyone interested in joining TAR is invited to come to the Nov. 14 meeting. Plans will be discussed (Hi polling the area to find the most popular presidential choice, also, plans to alternate parties every two meetings will be discussed. LAKELAND PARK TROOPS TO HOLD GOOD TURN DAY Boy Scout Troop 459 and Cub Pack 459 of Lakeland Park are participating in the Kish- Waukee district Good Turn Day on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Cub Scouts have distributed Good Will bags around the subdivision and the Boy Scouts will be picking the filled bags this weekend. Anyone who did not receive a specially marked bag may/ fill a shopping bag or box.
