Jenny Brodie and Tom Reese cut up last year's Christmas wreaths, dunked them in colorful paints, and hung them to dry. Others scurried in the barn, kept warm by a heater Miss Justen Becomes Bride St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry was the setting for a beautiful wedding on Saturday, Nov. 11, when Miss Barbara Justen became the bride of Mr. John Fardella. Miss Justen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Justen of 1401 N. Court street, McHenry, and Mr. Fardella is the son of Mrs. Mary Fardella of 1618 Beach road, McHenry. Nuptial music for the 2:30 o'clock afternoonceremony was offered by the choir. The church was decorated for the occasion with two vases of white and blue shasta pomps. Pretty Miss Justen was attired in an alencon lace, empire fashion dress, chapel length, styled with sculptured neckline adorned with lace motifs and pearls, ft had a fitted bodice and long pointed sleeves, the waist banded in satin peau de soie. The same material decorated the hem of the skirt A silk illusion, two-tiered bouffant veil fell from a nylon, petaled shell crown highlighted with pearls and aurora borealis crystals. Miss Connie Justen acted as maid of honor for her sister and bridesmaids were Mrs. Donald (Patti) Justen of Peoria, Mrs. John (Sally) Weideman of McHenry and Mrs. La- Vern CRose) Trickle of Wonder Lake. They wore royal ' blue velvet and light blue chiffon, floor length gowns and white marabou pillbox crowns. Vern Trickle of Wonder Lake served the groom as best man and groomsmen were Bill Frazier and Tony Olzewski of McHenry and Dennis Blietz of Elgin. Mrs. Justen chose for her daughter's wedding a blue and silver two-piece dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Fardella was attired in a silver and white dress with matching cape and accessories. A reception for 135 guests was held later in the day, after which the couple left on a wedding trip, their destination undecided. They will make their home at 4104 N. Spring Grove road, Johnsburg. Both young people are graduates of McHenry high school, the bride in 1966 and the groom a year earlier. She is employed as a typist at the Oak Manufacturing Co., Crystal Lake and her husband is an employee of Automotive Controls. rigged up for last weekend's special session! These enthusiastic young people are among many working with the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce to provide Woodstock City Square decorations that will make everyone proud this festive season. Interesting Program Given For Woman's Club Present "Come Blow Your Horn" This Weekend From Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Greenwood and Genevato name some of the townscome the versatile cast for this weekend's Woodstock Opera House production. Hie brash, laugh-happy comedy, "Come Blow Your Horn" marks the beginning of the adult theater group under auspices of the Woodstock Fine Arts association. The play is directed by J.J. Butler, Brooklyn native who has claimed Crystal Lake as his home for the past dozen years. Butler comes to the FAA as part of an auspicious program. He is director-in-residence through the cooperation of the Illinois Arts council, the first local program to receive financial support of the statewide group* The play will be given at 8 p.m. on Frida y and Saturday nights. Curtain time Sunday will be 7:30 p.m. The November meeting of the McHenry Woman's club was held at Zion Lutheran church on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. Following the business meeting, Dr. Carl Bergstrom, superintendent of the McFenry school system, spoke briefly to the members in behalf of the school bond issue which will come up for vote in December. Mrs. Marcella Mulcahey, of Illinois Bell, was guest speaker and gave an interesting lecture on the diamond industry entitled "Jewels for a Queen". Three new members welcomed into the club by Mrs. Peter Justen, membership chairman, and Mrs. Hugh Locker, president, include Mrs. Robert Knox, Mrs. Henry Sabath and Mrs. Ray Sabath. Products of art expression and creativity on the part of club members were brought to this meeting in observance of American Art Week, Nov. 1-7. Mrs. Albert Woermaim was in charge of their display. Mrs. Joseph Flicek was on hand as tea hostess for the social hour which followed, replacing Mrs. David Jones,who was out of town. The executive board will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at the home of Mrs. Paul Jess up, 415 N. Country club drive. Members are asked to bring a sandwich. PARENTS WITHOUT PARTNERS Parents Without Partners, Lake area chapter, will meet on Friday, Nov. 17, at 8:30 p.m. in the Yacht club room at the Crystal Bowl, Rtes. 176 and 31, Crystal Lake. In recent years some of the figures had become shoddy* This has changed with the Fine Arts association and the Chamber of Commerce pooling talent and enthusiasm with that of city officials. Late this week they expect to re-paint the faces on the Virgin Mary and other figures in the Holy Scene. Westwood students under the direction of Eddie LeCrone, art instructor, re-build faces on many of the figures. Timothy Begins Teacher Program Timothy Farr, McHenry is among the more than 200 Whitewater State university education majors who are currently enrolled in the professional semester of the university studentteacher program. Professional semester permits students to live in a community during a nine-weeks practice teaching period which follows four to six weeks of on-campus instruction in methods and professional education courses. By living where he is teaching, the student is able to instruct full days in a school at some distance from campus and to enter into the community life and extracurricular school events. At the end of the practice teaching period, the student returns to campus for two or three weeks to evaluate his experiences and to complete classroom work. Farr, son of Walter H. Farr, 505 North blvd, is practice teaching in an experimental mathematics program at Muskego high school, Muskego, Wis. Honor Couple On Silver Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rode were surprised by a group of friends at their home on Center street on Nov. 4 in observance of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, the actual date of which was Nov. 7. A very enjoyable evening was spent in singing and social chat. Lunch, including a beautifully decorated anniversary cake, was served and the honored couple presented with a gift. Hie highlight of the evening which brought back many happy memories was when Dorothy Hollander and Irene Keim very touchingly sang "I Love You Truly". Present for the happy occasion were Messrs and Mesdames Harry Conway, LeRoy Smith, Fred Meyer, Clarence Keim, Vern Sund, Robert Newkirk, Jack Hollander, Peter Heck, Frank Johnson and Bernie Hamil. Unable to attend were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Phelan and William Funk, who was spending Dad's Day with his •son at the University of Illinois. Mrs. Fund was present. McHenry Girl Engaged To Wed Mr. and Mrs. George Krickl, Jr., are parents of a son, William Charles, born Nov. 8 at Sherman hospital, Elgin. The young man weighed 5 lbs., 14 ozs., and has a brother, George Phillip, m, 4 years old. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Krickl, Sr., of McHenry and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson of HomewootL Mr. and" Mrs. Thomas Ballowe announce the birth of their first child, a son, Thomas Shawn on Nov. 6 at McHenry hospital. The young lad is well supplied with grandparents. On his mother's side are the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wetzel, great - grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wetzel, Sr., of Chicago and great grandfather, Arthur Ruemelin of McHenry Shores. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wickstrom. Mrs. Natalie Reiss of McHenry is the paternal great-grandmother and Mrs. Elizabeth Bogers is the greatgreat ^-grandmother. Justen & Son chapel for Marie Hall, 59, of 103 W. Rand road, Lakemoor. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery. Mrs. Hall, a three-year resident of the community died -Nov. 14 in Memorial hospital Woodstock, where she had been confined for only a day and a half. She was born Jan. 3, 1908, in Chicago. Survivors are her husband, George W.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Don (Barbara) Voigt of Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Kurbyun and Mrs. Harry (Lillian) Neumann of McHenry and Mrs. Harry (Eulalia) Schmidt of California; three brothers, Fred and Charles Epp of Chicago and John Epp of Florida; also four grandchildren. _ E-7 Ralph Justen, wife and children, Alan, Dennis, Danny and Debby, who have been living in Karlsruke, Germany, where he was serving with the armed forces, are guests in the home of her sister, Mrs. Alvin Phannenstill. Mr. Justen will leave for Viet Nam on Nov. 27 while his family will remain here to make their home. Mrs. Robert Conway was in Rockford Sunday to help her brother, Vernon Blenner, and his daughter, Mrs. Sandy Hennie, celebrate their birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Martin, who have been spending the summer in the home of their ' daughter, Mrs. Henry Tomlinson, returned to their home in Belleview, Fla., last week.
