The ladies will be helping Santa wrap presents for the children's Christmas party, being held on Dec. 10 atthe Johnsburg Community club, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All ladies attending tonight's meeting are asked to bring their own scissors. HERE AND THERE Bud Caley returned from Viet Nam last week. His homecoming was a pleasant relief, as his family has been awaiting his return for weeks. A funny thing happened to him on his way^tq the states. A week before he was scheduled to leave his post, he met his cousin, Tom Caley, from Elmliurst, who has been stationed only a block away from him for quite a while. It's a small world isn't it? Bud and Lucy Lytle went to admire their new niece, Roxann Renee, in Hanover Park. Her parents, Betty and Reg Rych, are thrilled with their little bundle. Mr. and Mrs. Flo Jesski and family attended a family party given to introduce Barb's niece's fiance to the family. The festivities were held at the bride-to-be's home in Chicago. Pat Dawidiak and George Smith are planning a May wedding. While at the party, Barb met Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pluta. It - seems that Mr. Pluta was a neighbor of Barb's when she was "knee high to a grasshopper". Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stoffel and family moved from their home on Grandview to their new home in Jak-Ana Heights. We wish you all the luck in the world in your new residence. Andy and Joann Eichhorn and family set out for a pleasure ride on Sunday. They stopped in Libertyville for a short but pleasant visit with, friends there, after which, Andy treated the family to dinner. Jim and Marge Farley and Bill and Marty Pritchard from Pistakee Terrace attended the Hawks hockey game on Sunday. They enjoyed the victory and a snack after the game. Richard and Jean .Gerke had guests on Sunday. Leo and Gertrude Palit and Frank and Florence Sobject enjoyed a gettogether over dinner. Charlotte Gerke attended the last homecoming game at Purdue university with her friend Dave Armit. They enjoyed the victory variety show afterwards, which starred Jack Benny. Mr. and Mrs. Scarbrough flew down to Southern New Jersey to spend five happy days visiting their relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Scarbrough, Sr., and Betty's brother and sister-in-law, Sally and Ed Eichman, and daughter, Lisa. Betty was also the guest of honor at a birthday celebration. It was a most enjoyable trip. Dottie Siepman held a very successful demonstration in her home on' Thursday evening. The ladies attending were Jean Gerke, Lucy Lytle, Florence Kanter, Mary Mann, Mrs. Roy, Christine Raiford, Joan Roy, Sharon McManaway, Doris Fied, and daughter, Connie, Phyllis McKee, Millie Birrington, Shirley Simmons, Arlene Rezek, Ruth Blegan and Rita Giambone. After the demonstration, cake and coffee were served. It seems as though everyone missed the highlight of the evening, because after everyone had left, Charlene, the Siepmans pet dog, delivered six puppies, (5 survived), 3 males and 2 females. Many happy returns, Mike, Bob and Connie. met at Johnsburg school Saturday at 9 a.m. where they boarded a bus and took a delightful trip into Chicago. They first visited the Art Institute, had lunch in the picnic rooms, and from there they walked two blocks to the Chicago public library. Every Saturday at the library they have different programs of stories. Also they viewed a fairy tale cartoon and a movie on the Pilgrims' first Thanksgiving. The bus then picked them up at the library and they returned at 5:45 p.m. The leaders were Ann Radtke, Mary Rose and Irene May. The children were Terri, Laurie and Robin Radtke, DonnyRose, Patty Jo Williams, Mary Jo and Billy Walczynski, Kathy and Helen Farley, Darlene Gerke, Alfie, Gerry, Rosemary and Daryl May, Eric Mikklesen, Kathy Palmer, who was also a leader, and Marty Palmer. BROWNIE NEWS The Brownie Investiture was held on Nov. 20, at the Johnsburg Community club. The girls made and presented their mothers with yellow carnation corsages. The refreshment table was also laden with yellow carnations. The cake slices were decorated with the Brownie and Girl Scout Insignias. The girls being invested were Cheryl Boomfield, Diane Williams, Carol Pinkowski, Kim Olsen, Tammy Bieshke and mothers from our subdivision. BOY SCOUT NEWS Jimmy Williams and several boys from the Pistakee Highland and McHenry troops attended a Deri Chief workshop in Rockford on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They learned new songs and games to help the Cub Scout Den mothers. Through this program they learn to become better helpers. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS Jimmy Wickman celebrated his birthday Monday after school with a group of his friends. There to enjoy the fun and games, and the goodies, were David Hanahan, Larry Palmer, Danny and Chuckie Schneider, and brother, Douglas. On Sunday afternoon Grandma and Grandpa Schneider came over to wish Jimmy a happy birthday and have some of his delicious cake. Roy, Frank, Gloria, Diane, and Mark Gowin, along with Mr. and Mrs. Frank MichcJs. went to the Warren Hager r-s - on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. am Gies were also there from Berlin, Wis. Gunnar and Emma Johansen celebrated their birthdays and Thanksgiving at the hoirte of their daughter, Bertha; in Arlington Heights. Their other daughter, Alice, was there with her family also. They both received oodles of cards and presents and some beautiful flowers. They enjoyed visiting with their children and ten grandchildren. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Laverne and Kelly Noah celebrated their anniversary with a special family dinner. Debbie Noah baked a cake for mom and • dad to enjoy, and they also received many nice gifts. Ernie and Gloria Von Oepen and Jim and Judy Peloquin from Fox Lake, celebrated their anniversaries together on Saturday night. They started the evening with dinner and cocktails, and then went on to a lounge where they enjoyed the entertainment and a few more cocktails. It was a very delightful evening. THANKSGIVING CELEBRATIONS The Noah family had a nice Thanksgiving dinner at home. They all enjoyed their fill of the turkey and all the trimmings. The Von Oepens went into Chicago to the home of Gloria's parents, Mr. and Mrs.R. Paszkiet. Also there to enjoy the feast were Gloria's sister, Elaine, and daughter, Hollie, Aunt Jean, Uncle Ed and cousin Madeleine Jacobs, also from Chicago. Later in the evening the family went to visit Ernie's parents who live in Des Plaines. Bud and Lucy Lytle entertained Lucy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gazda and brother, Ken, brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Reg Rych and baby, Mr. and Mrs. McManaway, and Gary Henthorn for Thanksgiving dinner. The Kennebeck family celebrated numerous occasions on Thanksgiving day at Carols brother's home in Westmont. Their godchild, DawifMarie, made her First Holy Communion at Notre Dame church in Clarendon Hills, after which they had breakfast.
