Dec. 1, 1967) Sesquicentennial Official Flag Is Displayed The official Sesquicentennial Flag, as proclaimed by Gov. Otto Kerner, was presented to Secretary of State Paul Powell by L.A. Wollan, Jr., assistant director of the Illinois Sesquicentennial commission, in Springfield last week. Mr. Powell said that this particular flag will be displayed in the reception room of his office, but that as flags suitable for outdoor display become available, they will be flown on the exterior of the Capitol. The offical flag is blue with the "I" and shape of Illinois, from the familiar Sgsquicentennial Seal, encircled by twenty stars representing each state preceding Illinois into the Union. A more prominent star, the twenty-first star on the flag, represents Illinois. Designed by Jerry Warshaw of Chicago, the flag symbolizes the people of Illinois, the admission of Illinois to statehood 150 years ago, and Illinois' prominence in the Union today. The Sesqui centennial year begins this Dec. 4 and climaxes on Dec. 3, 1968, the anniversary of Illinois' admission to the Union. The year will be filled with special events and celebrations throughout the state. Only modern electric heat o n m as clean as the sun Electric heat is unlike any other type of home heating.
