To all the boys in the service we wish Godspeed so they can be home with their Camilies in the new year. Also a great big thanks to all the people who worked so hard to make their homes merry and bright for all passers-by to see and to gladden their hearts during the holiday season. And especially thanks to all the little children without whom Christmas would be just another day of ttie year. OPERATION DIXON Mrs. Eckhart called to report that 500 packages were wrapped and delivered last week to Dixon where they were hidden away to wait for Santa Claus to come and pass them out to the eager kids. Some of these people receive no other Christmas gifts but what is given to the m through your generosity. Besides the people of Lakeland Park, and McHenry people from as far away as Chicago and as near as Crystal Lake donated their time and gifts to help make Operation Dixon a big success. GIRL SCOUT TROOP 320 We opened our meeting with the flag ceremony which Patrol 1 gave. Mrs. Bierman announced that we would have a campout on the weekend of Jan. 12, 13 and 14. Patrol 2 served treats. The hostesses were Lin- . da Apel, Susan McMillian, Cathy Mueller, Renee Stilling, Nancy Nyman and Donna Barwig. We played Cat and Mouse and closed with the flag ceremony. Respectfully submitted, Veronica Bierman, Scribe. 12/13/67 Aqy mother who would be interested in serving as cookie chairman for Girl Scouts is asked to call Mrs. Judy Bierman, 385-3404. We opened our meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Scout Oath and the Scout Laws. Next week is Parents Night on Dec. 19. This will be the last meeting of the 1967 year. The first meeting of the 1968 year will be on Tuesday, Jan. 9. Just a reminder that the Scouts are urged to remember their money for insurance. Mrs. Rode told us about the winter camporee. It is to be held in Huntley on Jan. 20-21. We are only going to stay Saturday night. For patrol competition the patrols will have to roll logs between pegs for a measured distance, build snow sleds and other feats of skill. Only those boys whose registration and insurance is paid will be able to attend the winter camporee. They also have to at least be a Tenderfoot. Respectfully submitted, Clark Bierman, Scribe. THE BOWLING ALLEY I goofed last week in the bowling column and erroneously reported the scores as from position night. Position night was held on Dec. 16 and those scores will be in next week's paper. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK To be repetitious this gal hasn't been doing much strolling what with the holiday hubbub controlling most of the hours of the day, plus our own personal battle with the flu bug. According to the tale, three strikes and you're out and I sure hope that nasty old germ knows about that rule cuz we're hardly ready to greet him for the fourth time, I hope, hope, hope. On the plus side of the ledger, Ron and Clark Bierman were at the stadium last week to cheer on our Blackhawks to a 5-2 victory over those pesky New York Rangers. Nice to see our team win, but nicest when we can be on hand to yell our hardest. The Dowells are pretty happy with the arrival home of Wade and Judi for 10 days leave. Can be sure they'll have a nice Christmas. Christopher Creutz celebrated his first big birthday last Thursday, with a bunch of beaming relatives on hand to help him devour his birthday cake. Laurie Perry will be celebrating her very first birthday on Dec. 23 and will spend her second Christmas at home. These kids sure don't stay little for long! Get-well wishes to little Richard Matthews who is still in the hospital with a few unexpected ailments. Our best prayers to the little guy so that he can be home with his family for Christmas. FINI Again I wish you the happiest of holidays and hope that you will give me^a little of your time so that this column can appear with some news in it during the busy weeks. Friday, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29 are the deadlines for your column.
