ASSOCIATION NEWS The Lilymoor association held its general meeting Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the garage of Don and Marion Leske. The roads were discussed. It was suggested that if residents would take a few minutes each week and either sweep or shovel the loose gravel back into the small holes this would help. In doing this it would keep the holes from getting any larger. Also brought up was the dance the association is having in March at the Johnsburg Community hall. Tickets are now available to whoever wishes to purchase them. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 9 at 8 p.m., in the garage of Marion and Don Leske. SYMPATHY Our deepest sympathies goto Bob Prange on the loss of his sister-in-law Mrs. Charlotte Prange. BIRTHDAY Greetings go to Sophie Peterson and Nancy Hueckstaedt. III.) has been awarded a citation for "Distinguished service to American Small Business" by the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies. Senator Percy, ranking Republican member of the Small Business Subcommittee of the Senate Banking and Currency Committee, received the award for his efforts in the passage of the 1967 Amendments to the Small Business Investment Act. Placed on top of each other, the midwife kits supplied by UNICEF would form a peak five times as high as Mount Everest. By Gerry Breede The ladies auxiliary to the VFW post 4600 held its regular monthly meeting on Monday Feb. 12, with President Ethel Groth presiding. Secretary Betty Ann Heard read official communications and letters of endorsement from the auxiliaries who have members who are running for 5th district offices. Other communications consisted of a thank-you letter from Dorothy Ullrich, principal of Edgebrook grade school. The auxiliary had presented a new American flag there in January. Marge Moreth, Voice of Democracy chairman, reported On the awards presentation which took place at the VFW club - house last month. Ethel Groth commended her on the way the contest was carried out. June Schmunk, Community Service chairman, reported on the Christmas baskets that were distributed by our organization and several other organizations in the community. She gave a complete run-down on number of baskets, cost and participating organizations. Vi Abbink, Civil Defense chairman, reported on the cost of I.D. tags, however* it was suggested that more information be obtained for our next meeting. Sunshine Chairman Florence Tussey reported a get-well wish has been sent to Christine Gates whom we hope has completely recovered at this writing. Our deepest sympathy has been extended to the families of Delia Witte and Eleanor Kuck, members who had passed away in the past month. Ways and Means Chairman Vi Abbink reported, as did Ila Hogan, National HQme chairman, Renee Jende, Legislative chairman, read part oi a bulletin from VFW Ladies Auxiliary National President Ruth Bogaz, part of which I quote here, "I realize that many of us disagree with the manner in which the war is being prosecuted but I believe those charged with the conduct of the war are in the best position to know how we shduld go aboutourtask. Please encourage your people to support those faced with winning the conflict." Your elected United States Senators and Representatives read their mail from home. It is important to them that they know how we feel on this urgent matter. I speak of resolution No. 14, which was passed for the third year in a row and "urges and supports whatever action is needed to conclude the Vietnam war in victory". Americanism Chairman Viola Schuble remimjed all to fly their, flag on Feb. 22 and asked that we donate a cash gift to Radio Free Europe. Gerry Breede requested that the members turn in ^usable purses, gloves, jewelry, scarves, and unused lipsticks to be forwarded for use at the Geneva State training school for Girls. This will be the second time we have participated in this community service program.' These items may be brought to the next meeting and future meetings until we have collected a quantity of the items. Our next regular meeting will be held on Monday, March 11, at the clubhouse. | ..».TCfl0§ MdUKi SPHeOAy I • REAL SPECIAL Ancient Age I Straight Kentucky I Whiskey 86% $ O 29 1 lA gal Iscly Times . 1/2 gal. yp 305 Virginia Si.
