Mr. Phelps presented the pack with its charter for the ensuing year, and Cub Scouts and leaders were given awards earned throughout the year. Pack 452 meets the third Wednesday of each month at Hilltop school at 7:30 p.m. Crowded Sky Right now there are about 500 objects circling the earth: dead satellites, burned-out carrier rockets, and the remnants of exploded rockets. If the children protected from TB by UNICEF marched four abreast, in rows two feet apart, their procession would circle the globe. Illinois ^ RED CROSS SOS FUND APPEAL TO OPEN MARCH I S.O.S. has a new meaning this year "Support our Servicemen" the slogan for the American Red Crdss campaign for funds. With the war in Vietnam, the American Red Cross has a tremendous job to keep its program in operation in the fields of war where over 300 Red Cross workers are on duty. "More than ever persons should contribute to the Mc- Henry county fund drive," said Arthur Gait, McHenry county, chapter chairman. Emphasizing the S.O.S. slogan, Gait asserted, "the campaign this year is aimed at a more generous outpouring of contributions from the American people and McHenry county should back this effort in a time of a great need such as now, by contributing generously." The Red Cross will need $121,624,000 in 1968-69 the highest goal it has sought since World War 2. McHenry County must do its bit in meeting its obligations by contributing its share of its total. Names of some chairmen who will assist in this campaign will be announced soon. In the meantime contributions may be sent to the Red Cross county chapter in the hotel building on Benton street in Woodstock. ALTERNATE DELEGATE Republican women were recognized when the "Voters' Preference" slate announced Mary W. Runnel Is (Mrs. Clive Runnells) as their other alternate delegate to the Republican National convention. Mac Donald FORD/MERCURY DAILY 9-9 SAT. 9-6 W^i out to win the iriddletieiglit titb! All members are urged to be present at this time as there is something quite special on the agenda. Dr. Ether edge, president of the McHenry County Junior College, will be guest speaker. His topic for the evening will be "The toll of the junior college in the community". Dr. Etheredge was a panel member on television last Sunday in a discussion group. The committee in charge will serve refreshments atthe close of the business meeting. CHURCH CEREMONY UNITES COUPLE The former Pamela Ann Marshall, daughter of the Richard Marshalls, became Mrs. Carl Heggeland on Feb. 10. A beautiful ceremony was performed in St. Bede's church. Following their honeymoon to Puerto Rico, the young couple will reside in Ingleside. Our sincerest best wishes for many, many happy years ahead are extended to these newlyweds. They were feted at a reception held at the VFW in McHenry at which time about 300 of their friends and relatives were on hand to extend their congratulations. MUSICAL DUET CHARMS ALL At the fiftieth anniversary of St. Agatha court 777, held recently in the community club, the afternoon was made most enjoyable through the beautiful music of Mrs. Annie Guyser on the piano and her greatnephew, Gary Guzzardo, on the organ. Gary, who plays just so beautifully for a young man of 17, played all during the dinner hour and then joined his talents along with those of his greataunts for many, delightful and entertaining duets. They also played for JoAnn Freund who rendered some lovely vocal selections. Hats off to all three of these very talented people who made the affair as enjoyable as it could possibly be. BAPTISM OF DUST INFANT Little William Edward Dust, Jr., was baptized in St. John's church by Father Dording last Sunday afternoon at 2. His sponsors were LaVerne Stumtf of Palos Heights and Donald Thiel of Barrington. Later in the day a buffet supper was served in the Dust home. In attendance at this time were the families of the Donald Thiels and the Frank Stumtfs, along with the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Thiel and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dust. The young man is the son of Bill and Sharon Dust and he has a big sister, Lynette. PEOPLE ON THE GO The Harry Freund family spent a couple days recently visiting her folks in Coulterville. Harry^s mom and dad are having one swell time visiting with their son and his wife in Florida. They are enjoying their winter vacation as much as any two people can. Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Freund and daughter, JoAm, Mrs. Edward Frett, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Berg and daughters, Kerri and Kristi and Mr. and Mrs. Tony M. Freund attended a game dinner Sunday afternoon at St. Peter's parish in South Beloit. This isv where Father Hettermann is and naturally the entire group had a great time with him along with enjoying the delicious dinner. Richard and Catherine Dehn and Jim and I were in Chicago last Sunday to attend the wake of our uncle, Wallace Dean. This is my father's only brother and the two have worked side by side in the printing business for 55 years, so you can imagine how the loss will be felt by him. Funeral services were conducted in the city Tuesday morning for which we made the return.trip into Chicago. We will be saying goodbye FRI., FEB. 23, 1968 - PLAINDEALER- PG. 5 to Chuck Hiller for a time once again, as He takes off for Florida this week where he starts spring training. GREAT-GRANDSON NUMBER TWO Special congratulations to Peter Oeffling who became great-grandpa for the second time when his granddaughter Sherry and her husband welcomed their second son on Feb. 13. The little one weighed in at a little over 6 lbs. when he arrived at the Burlington hospital. Lloyd Oeffling is the proud grandfather. Happy wishes to all. I guess that about wraps it up for another week. Once again, just a little reminder, even though the paper comes out twice a week, my deadline is still each N Monday at noon. Please call if you have any news items. Have a very good week and stay well. n FORM S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. An S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.
