Mrs. Reid, mother of six children ( including two foster children) is a member of the auxiliary board of the Cancer society. She explains her interest in the Crusade in personal terms: "I have faith in McHenryites. Their contributions will help the ACS. They in turn, through research, will perhaps reach the ultimate goal -- no more families torn apart, physically and emotionally, because they witnessed the suffering and death of a dear one because of cancer." Mrs. Reid, active in the American Legion auxiliary where she has been secretary for four years, is also active in the St. Patrick's Home and School, and Altar and Rosary sodality. She is a member of the American Field Service, currently the local chapter's vicepresident, She and her family were host parents to an AFS student, Paulo Lopes, of Brazil, last year. Hallstrom, 74, of 7625 South Drive, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday evening, March 20, in McHenry hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1894, in Monee, 111., the daughter of Frederic and Louisa Schroeder. Survivors include her husband, Carl, whom she married in Greenwood, Feb. 20, 19- 18; a brother, Ben Schroeder of Greenwood; and a sister, Mrs. Emor (Amelia) Doolittle, Woodstock. She was preceded in death hy her parents, two sisters and a brother. The body rests at the Schneider -Leucht -Merwin-Cooney chapel, Woodstock.where friends may call from'2 -9 p.m. on Friday and before the services which will be held on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. E^ Verner Birch of the Greenwood Methodist church will officiate and interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery.
