This is the last opportunity to be eligible to play ball this summer, so dor^'t forget that date. At a recent organizational, meeting of the little league group, John Boyle was elected president; Bill Gleeson for vice-president; Elaine Gleeson, secretary; and Bud Winters of Ringwood will serve as treasurer. Jim. Conway was busy over the weekend, working to put the playing field in good condition. DOROTHY VICK TOP VOTE GETTER IN SCHOOL BOARfl ELECTION ^ ' / , Dorothy Vick received 'the most votes on either ballot in the school election held last Saturday in the beachhouse.She tallied a total of 47 ballots and John Mclntyre was second with 46. John Coughlin received a total of 25 in District 15. In district No. 156, Dr. Leslie Krieger received 39 votes; Ed Guettler - 30; Clint Claypool - 20; Elizabeth Nolan -18 and Lloyd Freund -15. A total of 68 ballots were cast with one voter turning in a blank. Mrs. Margaret Graff won the award for prettiest hat which was a basket of daffodils. Petey Schmidt with her creation of multi-colored egg shells on a bed of crepe paper won her the title of funniest, and Grace Kinsey with her contribution of flowers, bows, 'n' birds with a mink trimmed doll in the center won the most original award. The difficult judging task was performed by Alice Gustafson, Laura Slater and Edith Brendle. Other entries included Louise Berquist, veiled with flowers; Harriet McNamara wore a veiled ballerina dancing on brim; Emma Pyritz modeled flowers, gold ribbons, and bows; Marge Stacknick sutynitted a carousel hat; Carrie Kurthhada veiled hat with flowers and palms; Ercell Lock trimmed her hat with Easter eggs, chicks jelly beans and flowers and Sue Klabor had a duck on a turban. The party was part of the regular meeting of the Ladies of the Lake, Thursday, April 11 in the beachhouse. LADIES OF THE LAKE The gals made a donation of ten dollars to the Woodstock Children's Home for Easter, at their last meeting. Saturday, June 1, has been set as the date for the annual bake and rummage sale with Mrs. Elizabeth Fisher serving as chairman of the bake sale. Articles for the rummage sale may be brought to the home of Carrie Kurth, two weeks before the sale, so each item can be marked. Five shut-ins receivedplants from the ladies for Easter and they were Hattie Crick, Vince Berry, George Nelson, Chad Carter and Kevin McKim who has been a patient in McHenry hospital with pneumonia. We hope, as of this writing, that he has been released. A prize of hand knit purple slippers given by Mrs. Louise Berquist was awarded to Marge Graff. Game winners included Louise Berquist, Grace Kinsey, Ercell Lock, Elizabeth Fisher, Cecilia Swedberg, Emma Pyritz and Minnie Potter. The gals will meet again, May 9, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. LONG TIME RESIDENTS PULL UP STAKES FOR EUROPE Alice and Conny Gustafson have sold the home they have inhabited for many years on Knollwood and plan to move to Sweden about the first of June. We sincerely hope they will thoroughly enjoy their new surroundings. THREE LITTLE PUPPIES FIND HAPPY HOMES A total of twelve children will be showering love and attention on three little puppies which were received for Easter gifts. The lucky canines will certainly enjoy the ministrations of the six John Klapperich kiddies; Maurine and Jay Caron; and the four Gleeson youngsters. Two of the puppies were brown and white multi-breed and the third was a black and white which found love in the Gleeson home. Needless to say, the children are ecstatic while the three moms are busily engaged in "operation - mop iq>!" EIGHTY-FIVE ENGAGE IN EGG HUNT . About eighty-five boys and girls through age 12 were on hand for the starting signal of the Cullom-Knoll annual Easter egg hunt last Saturday morning. Residents of the community came through generously by donating 30 dozen eggs for the occasion. A most grateful thank you from Ron Godina and Gerry Jensen who were the committee. Darlene Jensen also offered assistance. Mary Ellen Branham, Steve Huff and Kim. Bellow won first second and third prizes in the 5 and under category. Mike Walter located both first and second prize eggs in the 6 to 8 group with Roger Brand finding the third prize. Clayton Patzke, Linda Meyer and Terry Orton placed first, second and third in the 9 to 12 group. Following the egg hunt, the candy was given to all the children. CALL TONIGHT FOR BOWLING BANQUET ; RESERVATIONS This is the last day to make a reservation with Gerry Jensen - 385-3461 - if you plan to attend the annual bowling banquet, April 27. Everyone in the village is invited to attend. Don Hayes was high man for both game and series last Friday night with a 216 game and 533 series. Mike Herzog w^s second with a 208 and a 497 series. Dick Sanford bowled a 523 series. Nancy Piatt placed first for women with a 198 and a 542 series. Gerry Jensen was a close second with a 195 and a 530. When the season ends, we will publish the standings. NATAL "DAZE" Birthday greetings to Harris Dahly, Irene Johnson's papa, as of April 23.. .Ditto to Tom Bateman, April 20 and to Marie Howe, April 24.
