On April 21, at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Eisner will discuss "The Economic Problems of War and Peace" and will challenge the audience with the question, "Can our economy bear peace?" Dr. Eisner, chairman of the economics department at Northwestern university, is particularly interested in today's problems, both national and international, as related to the field of economics. Before joining the staff at Northwestern, Professor Eisner served as economist and statistician, U.S. Government, in the offices of Price Administration , War Information and the Housing Expeditor. Later he was instructor of political economy at Johns Hopkins university, then assistant professor of economics at the University of Illinois. He has testified frequently before Congressional committees on economic matters. Tickets for this program are available at the door. St. Clara Court Installation To Be Held April 25 St. Clara's Court, No. 659, National Catholic Order of Foresters, is planning installation of officers on Thursday, April 25. Dinner will be served at 6 o'clock at the McHenry Country club, followed at 8 clock by the installation in St. Mary's gym. Practice for installation will be held Tuesday, April 23, at 6:45 p.m. Dinner reservations should be placed by April 23 with Mrs. Richard S. (Loretta) Freund or Mrs. Leonard M. (Leoda) Freund. What's to come in the fashion world gets a gentle spoof from members of the Woman's auxiliary to the McHenry hospital, now planning for the annual Fashion show and luncheon May 1 at Martinetti's in Crystal Lake. Cherry Urive, Wonder View, Wonder >.|>ake, died April 16 at 5 p.m. "An McHenry hospital, where he vjiad been a patient for one month. Z' Mr. Jean, 74 years of age, *was born in France Jan. 24, 1894, and resided for the past (en years in Wonder Lake. He Qame to this community from Chicago, where he was a retired hide cleaner at a tannery. Mr. Jean and his wife, Frieda, came to this country from France in 1930. Besides the widow, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ann Gray of Wonder Lake and Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Masura of Chicago; six grandchildren and twelve great-grand children; also a sister in v«France. A son, Paul, preceded *^lim in death Nov. 5, 1962. The body rested at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home after 3 o'clock Thursday, with the rosary scheduled to be .recited at 7:30 .p.m. A funeral TMass will be offered at 10 o*- * clock Friday in Christ the King ^Catholic church, Wonder Lake, with interment in the church ' Cemetery. Memorable Trip Awaits Festival Queen, Mother The new Miss McHenry, 1968--whoever the lucky young woman is -- will take her mother as her guest to San Antonio, Texas. They will be guests of the McHenry Chamber of Commerce at the Hemisfair, 1968 at San Antonio, an ambitious world fair that's become a stand out attraction in its brief run since early April. Entries for the Miss McHenry contest are welcome now. The deadline is 5 p.m. Monday April 29. Candidates may obtain an entry blank from the McHenry Chamber of Commerce office, Frank Low's office, the McHenry State Bank or the office of the McHenry Plaindealer. The successor to Miss Sandra Fry will be chosen in competition at the McHenry VFWon June 12. Before the contest the candidates attend a free sixweek charm course attheVFW. The McHenry VFW and auxiliary cooperate in the Miss McHenry competition as' one of their community service projects. Reservations for the' new Miss McHenry and her mother have been confirmed at the Palacio Del Rio hotel from June 20-24. They will fly to San Antonio for the memorable jaunt. PHOTOGRAf For now, however, the main message is for girls 16-21 who live in the McHenry high school district to get their entry blanks in before deadline. Girls must be 16 by June 12 and cannot be 21 before that date. SHOP IN MCHENRY Holy Name Men To View Movie St. Patrick's Holy Name society will hold its regular montly meeting on Monday, April 22 at 8 p.m. when a movie on the Green Bay Packers football games of last fall will be shown. The executive board will meet at 7:30 o'clock. A large attendance is expected to enjoy the program and refreshments which follow. Principal To Address PTA Meeting Tuesday The last regular meeting of the Johnsburg PTA for the current year will be held April 23 in the Johnsburg school multipurpose room at 8 p.m. Following a short business meeting, including a report on the PTA-sponsored Fun Fair being held April 20, Richard Swantz, principal of the McHenry high school, West campus will speak on the "Modular Scheduling Program". In addition to showing a film on the subject, he will explain what it is and how it affects the children. To complete the program, there will be installation of the new officers for1 the coming year.
