As you know, Jeff is now stationed with the Marines in Vietnam. According to a phone call Sunday, we were informed that Chrys has signed with the U.S. Air Force and will be taking her basic training at Lackland Air Force base* Texas, next fall. After graduation, she will be a second lieutenants CONFIRMANDS DeeDee Levesque and Bruce,. Thacker are members of the Confirmation class, Nativity Lutheran church, Wonder Lake, Pentecost Sunday, June 2. Confirmation will take place during the 11 a.m. worship service. Officiating clergyman is the Rev. Thomas Johnson. MOVING FURTHER AFIELD Irene and Leo Sales will miss the frequent company of their children as Barbara and Jim Sales moved from Cooney Heights to Crystal Lake avenue. They are happy that the distance is not greater. BIG THRILL FOR LITTLE ONES John Cunningham provided new entertainment for his five children yesterday, and some of the neighborhood youngsters, as well. Seems as though John purchased a sit down lawn mower and he cleverly hooked a agon behind and rode the kids all over his expansive yard. YOU, TOO, MAY BE A CONTEST WINNER No one ever wins a prize in these national contests? Ha! Just ask this reporter. The other evening when I came home from work, my first question was - "Where did that package come from and what is it?" Inspection proved it to be a very handsome and useful two speed named brand blender with the message that one of our computer numbers had won the item as a prize in a national sweepstakes contest! We're hoping to be eligible for one of the other big awards also,. I am still enjoying the use of a handsome fitted travelling case which was a reward from one of the local supermarts. Keep the faith, keep sending in your coupons, and maybe you too, will be a prize winner. But just now, there's time to feel only excited and happy. It's fu|ny . . . when you're a little kid, it seems as if you go to school forever. Then all of a sudden, it's graduation night, and you know that this is an end and a beginning all at once. Mom and Dad will be out in the audience, and so will Dan. He sent me these roses. Our minister will be out there too, and I hope he'll notice that the smile I send in his direction will be a particularly grmeful one. How often I've gone to him with my childish troubles, only to have him treat them as seriously as if they were of world-shaking consequence. It was he who really taught me how to pray. j He taught me so many of God's lessons. And I am sure that throughout my lifetime I'll be learning them anew and repeating them over and over again. How wondp-ful tjo realize that this commencement, this end of an era»is really the beginn/ng of a new tomorrow. THE CHURCH FOR ALL . . . ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It if a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They ares (I) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.
