George Haasl, vocational advisor to the committee,was also present. Each teacher gave an overview of the particular subjects and spoke generally on the pupil- to-teacher and pupil-to-pupil relationship and the effects of these relationships on the individual pupil and the teachers. Everyone present was impressed by the thoughtful answers given to all questions and the insight gained from the exchange - the common interest being the best education for all children. The committee is securing information about vocation programs in surrounding schools which will be used as a basis for comparison with offerings in local schools. RODNEY MAUCH' TOURS EUROPE IN BRADLEY CHORALE Rodney Mauch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Mauch of Allen avenue, McHenry, is a member of. the select touring university chorale at Bradley university, Peoria, which is anticipating in a European tour from June 11 to July 4. They returned recently from,a spring tour in this country. Members of the chorale come from al| over the United States and meet together to find musical satisfaction and fellowship in song. They are chosen by audition from the student body each fall. Mauch is one among half of the forty-member singing group not enrolled as music majors. VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL Everyone is welcome at the vacation school of the Ringwood Methodist church, to be held July 8 through 19. Classes will be held for pre-school through sixth graders. Reservations are to obe made by calling Mrs. Althea Walkington, 653-9122, by June 15. MILK DAY JUNE 8 Harvard's annual- Milk Day will be held on Saturday, June 8, featuring the big parade through the business section of the. city starting at 1 o'clock. The city of McHenry will have a float entered, and there will also be other local participants in the line of march. people on the Curriculum committee, the following topics will be studied by all members, rather than concurrently by subcommittees as originally planned: 1. Vocational Arts - involving the development of a vocational program which involved actual work experience. 2. Social Problems - including family life, sex education, counteracting school drop outs, etc. 3. Consumer Education - covering courses in installment purchasing, budgeting, comparison of prices, etc. 4. The Upgraded System. 5. The Unit District 6. Use of Community Resources and Facilities. Members of the curriculum committee are interested and enthusiastic about their part in the Citizen's Advisory council, which includes serving in an advisory capacity to the boards of education of School Districts 15 and 156 in developing and revising official policies for the public schools and to advise and work with'employees of the boards in ways to implement policies in a mutually satisfactory manner; to interpret to the public the goals and need of the school systems; to interpret to the Boards of Education the concerns of the public about school problems; to study continuously the needs for the educational program to serve the people, of the districts; the effects of the educational programs; and to facilitate communication between the officials and staffs of the school systems and the people of the school districts. After a thirty-day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Yonkus, 1718 W. River Terrace drive, McHenry, he will report to Fort Meade, Md. He has one more year to serve. A welcome home party was held at his home, with neighbors and friends in attendance. re Shown at the - charter presentation of St. Patrick's Cub Scouts, Pack 351, are Dan Knox, Charles Smolarek, cubmaster; Bob Biltgen, Cynthia Knox, Neal Barry, Tom Thompson, Friendship Club To Meet June 8 The Friendship club of the Community Methodist church will hold its regular meeting at 6- p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the church basement. The usual pot-luck dinner will be served followed by the business session. Officers for the coming year will be elected. Mr. and Mrs. John Godtfredsen will (.-have charge of the program. It will be a special musical program, with religious, patriotic and some comedy selections. , Pvt. Frank Visconti, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Girolamo Visconti, Sr., 5012 W. Route 120 McHenry, completed reconnaissance training May 24 at the Army Armor center, Ft. Knox, Ky. He received eight weeks of training in the methods of scouting and patrolling, with emphasis on the operation of Army jeeps on rugged terrain. Instruction was also given in camouflage techniques, concealment in natural terrain and handling of weapons. Be Wise Shop In McHenry FIRING TIME . . . SP4 George R, Sanchez, Laredo, Texas, bjasts away at a Viet Cong position with his M-72 rocket launcher. Sanchez is a member of the 101st Airborne Division. CITY CRASHES INVESTIGATED BY AUTHORITIES City police investigated numerous minor accidents in recent days. While a car driven by Irene P. Bowers of Rt. 1, Capron, was in the east-bound lane of Rt. 120, Wayne L. Douglas of Woodstock, travelling east, was blinded by the lights of an approaching car and failed to see the first vehicle. In attempting to avoid contact, Douglas travelled into the ditch, but nevertheless, struck the Bowers auto. Samuel E. Absher of 5618 Sylvan drive, Wonder Lake, turning into a service station at 3307 W. Elm street, misjudged the distance and struck the northwest corner of the building, causing damage to the car and the corner of the structure. . Cars driven by Arthur E. Geiger of 420 Lily lane. Lakemoor, and Herman C. Bartelt of Elgin, collided when the first driver entered the fourth lane, making a left turn, and the second auto was west-bound in the right lane. Cars driven by George P. Freund of 1404 N. Green street and Helen M. Smith of 3612 W. Anne street, both McHenry, collided when the latter was leaving a parking 4pt on Green street, turning east and the former was travelling west on the highway. When Aubert C. Ruth of 1121 W. River Terrace Drive, McHenry stopped in the line of traffic, waiting for the lead car to clear and allow him to make a left turn into a parking lot at the Plaza, the auto of Ethel F. Moore of 2706 Michael street, Wonder Lake, stopped behind him. The third auto, driven by Selma M. Pohlman of 3207 W. Crescent, McHenry, failed to see the cars and ahead and collided with them. Philip R.' Bucaro of 1914 Eastern avenue, McHenry,was attempting to turn left on High street when another auto, driven by John H. Grandt of 3801 W. Allen road, McHenry, failing to see the other car turning struck the vehicle. Terry J. Jordan of 5309 West Lane, MCCullom Lake, driving east on Elm street, was struck by Michael K. McEvoy of 4215 W. Crystal Lake road, McHenry, who was leaving a parking lot. He skidded on wet pavement in attempting to stop. When Robert J. Tagueof 4908 E. Lake Shore Drive, McHenry, turned left into an Elm street parking lot, the auto was struck by Marilyn J. Adams of 3719 W. Maple avenue, McHenry, who was unable to stop on the slippery pavement. HURT IN FALL Anna Thelen of 2119 Johnsburg road suffered two broken legs in a fall from a ladder on Tuesday of this week. She is confined to McHenry hospital. George Brand, district executive; Tom Rauscher, Joe Johnson,, Donald Peterson, committee chairman; William Mueller,, secretary; and Glen Maxson. assistant cubmaster. In a recent ceremony, George Brand, district executive of the Blackhawk council, Boy Scouts of America, presented the 1968 charter to Donald Peterson, committee chairman of St. Patrick's Cub Scout Pack 351. In addition to the presentation of the new charter, awards were given to Webelos Scouts for athletics, Tom Thompson^ Tom Rauscher, Robert Biltgen, Joe Johnson and Neal Barry. The rank of Bear was awarded to Thomas Daurio and Frank Kolbringer, Michael Kalk and Peter Wilt were officially initiated into the Cub Scouts, Pack 351 by receiving the Bob* cat badges.
