ATTEND LEGION ANNIVERSARY Mrs. Harriet Olson and daughter, Mrs. Craig Johnson, from AWora, Mrs. Leander Lay and Mr. and Mrs. William Shotliff attended the fiftieth anniversary party of the Richmond American Legion. Mrs. Johnson and family were visiting her mother, Mrs. Olson. Mr. Johnx son is in Israel on business. INJURED Mike May, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul May, was badly cut on his arm when he fell through a glass door, the laceration required twenty-seven stitches. ON LEAVE Pvt. Harold Smith who is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, is enjoying a furlough athis home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith. He returns July 15. ----^ CLUBS MEET Members of her club met at the home of Mrs. Mary Klein on Thursday afternoon. Those receiving prizes were Annie Sanders, Tillie May* Mame Tinney, Peggy Buesseler and Mary Klein. A lunch was served. Mrs. Evelyn Freund was hostess to her club in her home in Antioch on Thursday night. Punch and snacks and strawbetty cake was served. Cards were played and prizes went to Mrs. Emma Kattner, Mrs. Marie Lewis of Fox Lake and Mrs. Fannie Prosser of Fox Lake. The club will meet next in the home of Mrs. Mamie Hoffman. SCOUT SAVES FOUR YEAR OLD FROM DROWNING , Jim McMillan, 12 years old, son of the Thomas McMillans, Indian Ridge, saved a four year old boy, Ricky Corso, summer resident, on Monday, June 21, while Jim was on his paper route. The young boy was three houses from home, playing with a beach ball which blew intp the lake. The boy went to get the ball out of the lake and there was a drop oft, Jim ran in the lake with his clothes on, waited for Ricky to bob up and pulled him out of the water. Jim is a member of the local Boy Scout troop of which John Doherty is the Scoutmas- ^ter. RETURNS FROM VACATION Miss SusanRemy, daughter of the senior Harold Remys, Indian Ridge, returned home last Friday after visiting her sister, Mrs. Sharon Pickering and five nieces and nephews. She took in the sights of Pebble Beach, San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf and rode a cable car. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER Mrs. Joseph Bores, Jr., Wheaton (the former Janice Johnson) daughter of the Andrew Johnsons, Wooded Shores, was the guest of honor at a pink and blue shower given by Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Berna, Woodstock sister of Janice, Mrs. Joseph Bores, Sr., Downers Grove, grandmother - to- be and Mrs. Walter Petersen, St. Francis Heights, where the shower was given for the twenty guests. The guests were from Chicago, Berwyn, Woodstock, Ringwood, Weathersfield, and Wonder Lake. The blessing from heaven is expected within the next week or so. « IN THE HOSPITAL Mrs. Nancy Fallow was admitted to the Woodstock hospital, this past week. Grover Wickline, Ethel Haldwell and Pearl Komoro were patients this past week at McHenry hospital. LOCAL DEPUTY KILLED McHenry County Deputy Clarence Bridwell, 40 years old, Highland Shores, was killed shortly after midnight, July 1. The deputy was attempting to remove a tree from the road when he was struck by a car. Our condolences to the family.
