The unit has performed at several local and national events including the New Orleans Mardi Gras and the Denver St. Patrick's Day parade during its first year of existance. "" £ In the above photo Mrs. Frederic Amour of Island Lake is enjoying the sunshine, her daughter, Nona, is displaying her skin diving treasures and Mr. Amour is practicing on a native Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Amour and daughter, Nona of Island Lake spent ah adventurous vacation in the Caribbean and the West Indies islands. The Amours went by train to Miami, Fla., for a few days, then flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they boarded the Schooner Polynesia for their exciting voyage. From San Juan the Polynesia sailed to the islands of Virgin Gorda, Tortola, and then to Nevis, the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton who was the first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States in the cabinet of President George Washington. After £Ievis the trip continued to the island of Saba, St. Barts, St. Marteen, and then to Antigua which was once the headquarters for Admiral Nelson's famous fleet. The entire voyage took the ship into United States, French, Dutch and British controlled territories. COUNSELERS ASSUME DUTIES AT AREA COLLEGE Two members of the McHenry County college counseling* s staff have assumed their responsibilities at the college. Theodore Huizengo, director of counseling, and Mrs. Darlerie Hoffman, are presently studying college policies and registration procedures prior to beginning couseling and registering students during the week of July 8. Mr. Huizenga comes to McHenry County college with a number of years of experience as a counselor, including 3 years as a counselor and registrar at Flint Community Junior college in Flint, Mich. Mrs. Hoffman is experienced both as an instructor of English and as a counselor. Prior to assuming her responsibilities as counselor at McHenry County college she served as a counselor at Robert Morris college at Carthage, 111. Mr. Huizenga and Mrs. Hoffman will begin interviewing prospective full-time students who have earlier filed applications for admission to the new community college. Students will register for all semester classes at the time of their counseling interview. All prospective full-time students who have filed applications for admission have received letters from the office of student services containing a choice of three interviev^dates. Interview dates are being scheduled in such a way as to make it possible for the counselors to give individual attention to the needs of each student at the time of registration. A schedule of credit classes to be offered by the college in September has been prepared and is available at the college offices at the I.I.T. building in Crystal Lake. Interested persons may secure a copy by visiting the college's offices or telephoning 459-6800. A schedule of non-credit coursestobe offered this fall is now being prepared and will be available for distribution in August. The college's first catalog is now in press and will be available for distribution the last week in July. > JERRY BISHOP PERFORMS FOR FAMILY NIGHT Jerry G. Bishop, popular disk jockey of radio station WCFL and tops with the teens in Mcrf Henry, will make an appearance at the annual family night on Thursday July 18. The teen band will begin at 7:30 and Jerry will arrive shortly thereafter. Jerry G. Bishop said that he was pleased to be asked to this affair and looking forward to meeting the young people of the McHenry area. He said he would have records to give away and also conduct some contest. The "Back Roads" of McHenry will be the featured teen band. They are very popular with the teens and will play for their dancing pleasure. Everybody is invoted to this big night. There will be no charge for admission.
