J '• Itel"- WHISPERING OAKS Gertrude Disney HOMEOWNERS MAKE PLANS FOR ASSOCIATION The following homeowners have volunteered to serve on a committee for the purpose of formulating plans to establish a home owners association. They held their second meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Herbert Sass residence. Members of the committee are as follows, Herbert Sass, chairman, pro tem, Lawrence Sbertoli, secretary pro tem, Erwin Reiter, Glenn Robe, William Wilson, Carl Doremeyer. A survey was conducted to determine the number of home owners who would be interested in a home owners association of Whispering Oaks. It has been concluded that 95 percent of the home owners have indicated th6ir interest in a home owners association. ; SENIOR CITIZENS Senior citizens of Whispering Oaks enjoyed the meeting on Monday night, Aug. 12. Wonderful slides were shown by Eric Kaemke of his trip thru Switzerland. We saw the French Alps Italian Alps, the Matter Horn, and his trip through Rome, the cathedrals, water fountains of different types, the three coins in the fountain, from which the •^Qng hit was written. The slides were beautiful indeed. The calories were present, but no one seemed to care. The peach cakes, chocolate and angel food, sure were enjoyed. Most everyone had a contented look on their face. Of course, HEffiE AND THE1E USINESS * HEADS HOME DIVISION John B. Moor house of Pekin was recently employed by Arnold N. May Builders, Inc., to head the Residential Home division. Mrl Moorhouse has been actively engaged in real estate and building business in central Illinois for the past fifteen years. He and his wife Laveraa will bring their family to Richmond before the start of the school term. Mr. Moorhouse served with the U.S. Army Infantry Division in Germany during World War n and he received his B.A. degree from DePaw university in 1950. He spent four" and a half years teaching in the Pekin public school systems before turning to the real estate, and construction field. --> JOINS AGENCY Kenneth J. Stilling of St. Paul, Minn., formerly of McHenry* has been appointed a sales representative for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. He Will be associated with the William J. Cooper agency, Minneapolis. Mr. Stilling, a 1963 graduate pf Marian Central Catholic high school in Woodstock, received a B.A. degree, this year from St. Thomas college, St. Paul. MEET SUMMER DEMANDS More power to serve growing summer demands of customers was added to the Commonwealth Edison company system when two 38,000 kilowatt peaking generators were placed in service at Waukegangenerating station. Chairman J. Harris Ward said the addition of the units' 76,000 kilowatts increased the net generating capability of the Edison system to 9,- 733,000 kilowatts -- a net increase of 1,186,000 kilowatts since the start of the year. 385-7515 our president, Bert Welker, helps make it that way for he is a jolly good fellow. The next meeting will be Aug. 27. NEW IN WHISPERING OAKS Rose and John Phol have moved in at 4401 Front Royal. They are. from Scarsdale Estates. They have two daughters living in New York, Sister Rosanie and Mrs. Komposto. Also new are Mr. and Mrs. Karl Mattson who live at 1113 Cumberland Circle. They also have two married daughters. They have a beagle whose name is Tammy and a mother cat with four little kittens. NEWS BITS There is joy at the Linder home, 1110 Manchester Mall. Little Scott Linder McAleer came as a new grandson. His sisters, Eva, 12 and Lisa, 6, have been staying at their grandma's house, while little Scott made his appearance. He was born on his grandma's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Welker returned from their two weeks trip in the east. They visited relatives at the hospital in Ocean City, N.J. and attended a funeral in Harrisburg. Sister Loraine is home from college spending time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Welker. The Boetters have new shutters on their house, They blend in nicely with the exterior of their house. Mr. and Mrs. A. Brawn of 1118 Manchester Mall had new gutters put up. Their son. Raymond, is doing a fine job, his brother-in-law, Harold Kane, helped with his ideas. The Brawns daughter, Mrs. Kane, and their four children spent the weekend with them, Christie, Kurt, Billy and baby, Laura. Mr. and Mrs. Brawn have thirteen grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Heath and Mrs. Heath's sister, Mrs. Di Silvester, and husband from Berwyn went fishing up at Balsam Lake. They got nice fish, ate them fresh up there. Mrs. Davis gets around real well with her new bicycle. It has a gear shift on it that will enable her to get up these hills with less effort. Theresa Roe a former hat designer, spent some leisure time at our place. She saw the countryside, the lakes, and did some, shopping at the stores. LUNCHEON AND STYLE SHOW A luncheon and style show sponsored by St. Mary's church was well attended, by the ladies from Whispering Oaks. They were Mrs. Kauth, Mrs. Demke, Mrs. Ersig and Mrs. Therens. Mrs. Therens won a special prize. Mr. and Mrs. Therens went to the Penn. State college to visit their daughter, and family and stopped at Cleveland, Ohio, to visit their two sons there, they saw their fifteen grandchildren on this trip. Mrs. Kauth"s mother is home from the hospital and feeling fine. She tells of the wonderful care she got while at the hospital. LEXOW FAMILY VACATIONS AT LAKE IN CANADA I Howie, Joyce, Beth and Leie ; Lexow spent two weeks in Canada at Caliper Lake which is three miles south of Nester Falls. They camped out for the entire period and enjoyed every minute of it. While there they took a ride to Kenora and took a boat trip on the lake of the Woods. All went up on a sea plane and toured the camp site they were staying at. On the way up and back they stopped off in Minneapolis and stayed with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Niemi, and their children who had just been in the Shores for a four day vacation. They brought back a nice batch offish^ "some of which were caught by Beth and Lee. S STEAK FRY Last call for the steak fry to be held at the beach on Saturday, Aug. 24. Continued happiness to Ken "and Bonnie Schopp and Robert' and Evelyn Tanner as they add on another year on Aug. 22. It will be the twenty-sixth for the Schopps, and to William and Nancy Ewald who will be celebrating their eighteenth anniversary on the twenty-sixth. ACTIVITIES IN THE SHORES David Winters had a week's vacation recently visiting a cousin in Louisville, Ky., and felt auite grown up after his first air trip alone. While he was gone Maryann Fitzgibbins came out from Chicago to visit Nancy, so it is never adullmoment at the Winters home. Louise and daughter, Maryann, along with the Daphne Swartz Circle, from the Methodist church visited Jan Kozy on her farm in Sharon, Wis., and had a picnic. ( Bonnie and Sgt. Steven ScVweikertp recentlyfromthe Phil-- lippines, just announced the arrival of the baby boy who checked in on August 9 at 10:23 _p.m., weighing 8 lbs. at the. Sherman hospital in Elgin. The fine little boy was named Ste- V ven Michael. Congratulations to the happy parents and the proud grandparents. Belated cohgrats to Otto Mueller who had a birthday on Saturday Aug. 10 and celebrated with three other couples who went to a well known dine and dance place in Crystal Lake.
