AWARDED CONTRACT Among contracts totalling more than $5,000,000 for construction and related work on the state's 1968 road program was one awarded to Lakeland Construction company, Mc- Henry, in the amount of $309,- 906 for three miles of concrete on gravel or crushed stone base course from a mile and a half of Lakewood, west and south. Numerous burglary complaints have been filed against T.W. Bierchen, 4508 N. Mayfair, Sunnyside Estates, concerned with offenses alleged to have taken place July 11. Last month similar complaints were filed against Harold T. Caley of Oakleaf drive, McHenry and R.W. Menolasino, Widoff drive, Wonder Lake. Bond for Bierchen was set for $10,000 on each count. Bond for the other two has been reduced to a total of $57,000. Rt. 120 McHenry Workshop With the election of Nov. 5( rapidly approaching, the McHenry - Woodstock League of Women Voters is intensifying efforts to inform the public of the advisability of voting "yes" on the Blue Ballot proposal for Illinois to have a Constitutional convention. The Con-Con (Constitutional Convention) workshop of the league met on Aug. 20 to further plans in this direction, and another workshop meeting is scheduled for Sept. 6 at the borne of Mrs. Julia Konger of McHenry. Summer activities of the league included the distribution of informational literature to the public at the various festival and sale days in the towns in the area. The league also had abooth at the McHenry County Fair in cooperation with the Crystal Lake JCps and the Crystal Lake League of Women Voters for the purpose of informing people about Con-Con. This fall the McHenry Woodstock league has arranged to supply a speakers' service to the local clubs and organizations. Tentative plans are for a brief illustrated talk by a speaker followed by a short movie on the subject. Several dates have already been scheduled for September and October. Any clubs desiring to avail themselves of this speakers service may receive information by calling Con-Con chairlady, Mrs. Donald J. (Anne) Meyer of McHenry.
