In a terrific show of force, power, and;: depth, the orange and black lab- ? eled themselves the conference - team to beat as they defeated both teams by the identical margins of 25-32. Jim Bishop of Crystal Lake, the defending conference champ, won the meet with a time of 14:17 onthe Warrior course. Coming in only three seconds behind Bishop was Warrior co-captain Brad Pictor with Glen Hampton close behind in fourth place. With Dundee and CL sharing the next three places, it was then the Warrior power asserted itself. Mark Smith took an 8th, Mike Freund a ninth and Don Schubert a 12th. The pushers were Wayne Smith, Bruce Davis, and Dennis Roby, all of whom took valuable points away from the opposition by finishing well up in the running. With this show of TEAM STRENGTH the Warriors gave evidence that they will be No. 1 and the squad to beat this year. On another encouraging note, the little Warriors also raced to their third and fourth victories of the season with the top five SENIOR CITIZENS PLAN CUB TRIP -Attention all you lady baseball fans - if you want to go on the baseball outing to see the Cubs-Los Angeles game on Sept. 25, make reservations promptly by calling 385-2675, Earl Krukow, or Cy Young, 385- 4578. Now let the men start shooting at that score. A little bird told us that Joni was using a new ball. Now all the girls want one just like it. The big score was rolled tg> in the "Mixed Up Grownups" league. Congratulations, Joni. It must have been a great thrill. GERTIE AND THE DITTY BAGS -- We were happy to hear Gertie Bar Man's voice on the other end of the line. She never has enough health troubles of her own to make her forget doing for ethers. Most of us are well aware of the fact that Gertie is working on the big and commendable project of sending Ditty Bags to service men in Vietnam. Trouble is most of us read about it, then set it aside as a wonderful project, tt really isn't that we don't intend to do our small part. We simply forget to remember. It costs $5.00 to put a bag of useful items together for a fellow over there. You can either get a list from Gertie or send her the cash for ons or more unit,, But, do it to-day -- not some other day. Time is short. These gifts must be mailed very soon if they are to reach the bays before Christmas. Please tie a little, string around your finger. Busy week. Grandma, grandpa and Aunt Patricia are taking care of our one year old grandson while his Mom and Dad are getting a little vacation. That little bundle of joy is also a bundle of energy. John Looze gave the best description of a 1 year old when he said they have arms 8 feet long. Oh, yes! Forgot that Gertie also asked what we are doing about the Cubs and Sax. We wrote to the Cubs, but didn't get an answer. As for the Sox -- there are some plans under way for us to visit them in spring training next year. Look for improvement. 1. He is "The Prisoner."
