' .rf?-1' ' Pg;;4, Sec. 2 - Plain dealer - Fri., Oct., 11, 1958 SCOUTS LAUNCH MASSIVE PROJECT ON MANPOWER A project that envisions the enrollment of 300 new Scouters on the district level has been launched by the BlackhawkArea council, Boy Scouts of America, tt was announced by Car 1 L. Sadler, president. "It has been evident for some time that we must supplement our committee and commissioner service level," said Sadler, "and with the results of Scout Night in the schools, it now becomes a necessity." On Wednesday, Sept. 25, more titan 200 schools were open for the enrollment of boys into the program and a conservation estimate shows that 3,000 new boys will be added to the program. Local leadership for the Cub Packs and Scout,Troops comes from these sponsoring institutions and the parents ofthfeboys who are enrolling, arid this solves some of the problems involved in this sudden expansion. Personnel for district leader ship, however, must now be recruited so that an ample training program for all unit leaders can be provided, camporee and other camping experiences set up, advancement programs developed so that the recognition awards the boys earn can be promptly presented; men must be found to organize the new Cub packs and Scout troops, and the plans for all Scout activities must be developed. A commissioner staff to provide the necessary service for every Cub pack, Scout troop and Explorer post and council must also be provided. Six dinner meetings have been established at which time the functions of the various committees will be explainedto a select group of men who have been invited to attend.
