This means that anyone providing day care for youngsters in their home for more than 10 hours a week must have a license. There were at present sixty local members. Rudolph Johnson of Bald Knob who has sponsored the movement was nominated by Mayor R.W. Frett and elected temporary president of the local chapter. A "Trade at Home" campaign will be started in McHenry and will continue for twelve weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heimer celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary at their home Oct. 7. Saturday was Boy Scout day at Northwestern university when the Wildcats defeated Butler, 14-0 in the first game of the season. About 700 Scouts were present with several from McHenry. Those who attended were Rollo Chamberlin, Harold Vycital, Robert Sutton, Eugene Sayler, Felicie Unti, Robert Edwards, Arthur Cox, Carl Rietesel and Claire Kinsey. The appointments 0|f pastors at the Methpdist Rock River conference being held in Chicago, were made on Monday. Rev. C.W. Laughlin, pastor of the local Methodist church will be transferred to Central Park church, Chicago. TWENTY - FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Oct. 14, 1943) Mr. and Mrs. WilMam W. Scott, formerly of Kenosha, Wis. will open a new place to eat on Elm street, Oct. 16. K will be known as "Bill's Diner Arid Restaurant". Mr. Scott and family are residing on Elm ' ^ V street in the Anna Freund apartment. Richard Justen during his last eighteen months of service with the Marines has been in four major conflicts including the battle of the Solomons and the battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, Pearl Harbor has been his home port since his enlistment. Friends just received word of the death, Oct. 10, of Mrs. George Bonsall at her home in Sharon, Wis. The Bonsalls had made their home on the Clay Baird farm south of McHenry for many years. A gathering of the Jacob F. Justen family was held at the family home on Pearl street. The occasion served as a farewell party for one of the group Alex Justen, who leaves Oct. 21 for army services. The opening play by J.B.Rotnour Players will be " Our New Minister" a timely comedy drama. There will be also vod'vil between acts. They are supported by the McHenry business men and will be held at the McHenry high school auditorium. Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Wagner of Spring Grove will observe their fiftieth anniversary Oct. 17. TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Oct. 2, 1958) Douglas Glosson of Third street, McHenry, was treated at the McHenry hospital for cuts about the face as the result of an accident which occurred at the end of Lakemoor, Oct. 1. John Looze of McHenry has been named a member of the Red Cross executive coipmittee. This group works with the board of directors which id composed of the chairmaii of each of the twelve branches in McHenry county. Fr. Daleiden is observing his twenty-fifth year as pastor of St. Peter's church at Spring Grove with a high Mass Oct. 3, Mrs. Betty York spent several days the past week at Manitowoc, Wis., where she was called by the death of her mother. The Little Theatre of Crystal Lake will present the three act comedy, "The White Sheep of the Family" Oct. 3 and 4 at Central school in Crystal Lake. Rita Conway Weyland, life long resident of McHenry, will have a featured role. Bob Barclay, a more recent resident of ^de- Henry, is also in the play. The home of the bride was the setting for a lovely wedding Sept. 27 which united in marriage Miss Bettina Neilsen of Country club drive, McHenry, Sttd~ Mr. Frank Johnson of Main street. Rev.
