At the dinner this week, Mr. and Mrs, Sass of Ashley drive celebrated\ their forty-second wedding anhiversary. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell observed their forty-sixth anniversary on June 25. Mayor Donald P. Doherty spoke briefly at the last meeting, especially noting the enthusiasm of club members which he stressed was a decided asset to the community. A club picnic will be held July 13 at Veterans Acres, Crystal Lake. In the 19th century, tuberculosis sufferers flocked to the Southwest in hopes that the dry climate would cure them. Owen and Michael Janik, sponsored by the Legion post; and Tom Burton and Kenneth Wahl, sponsored by the Rotary club. One of the young men selected, Donald P. Reinboldt, who has been hospitalized, was unable to attend.
