As soon as definite information is available we'll be most happy to pass it on in this column. So many people have been enjoying the beach this summer with all the nice weather we were having up until the last week. It's wonderful that so few unpleasant situations come up. The biggest problem so far has been sand throwing which is a terrible spectator sport. A few people really can make lots miserable. We've been very fortunate over the years that no serious accidents have occurred, but misuse of the raft has produced lots of scrapes and bruises so far from the continuing King of the Hill game. Sure hope that nothing more happens, but after the fact is too late. That's all for the soapbox! The beach closes at 11 p.m. nightly. STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK It felt like the Wizard of Oz revisited with all the-trees and such blowing through the air last Saturday morning. Mary Daurio didn't feel too poetic though as I she took a ride in their camper which landed upside down with her inside of it. Ouch! Not funny though as that ended the camper and she still is finding bruises. The most frustrating part of the whole time though was to be sitting in the dark while the houses across the street were bright and shiny. Very bad for the disposition, although when all was said and done, we were very lucky to have electricity when we did. Paeans of praise to all the guys who put in long hours to keep us in modern conveniences. They sure earned their keep last weekend. They are there to help you find phone numbers when you aren't able to find them yourself. Like when there's no directory around, or when you need a new number that's not listed yet. Sounds logical? Sure. But a lot of people call for assistance and never realize that the number they need is probably right there ir> the phone book. At Illinois Bell, three-fourths of the calls to Information are for numbers „ correctly listed hi the directory. We're hoping the new name will help remind people that the girls at Directory Assistance are there to help whenever the phone book isn't.
