WED., OCT., 30, 1968 - PLAINDEALER,- PG. 5 Country Club N •WS Geri NfifutMuer 385-7194 LOCAL BOYS RECOGNIZED FOR FOOTBALL PLAY While the McHenry lightweight team lost to Round Lake last Sunday^ 27-0 they didn't go down without a fight. Joe Walker of Crescent drive gets the Player of the week title for the four tackles he completed and the many other outstanding plays. Ban Hellios gets the play of the week credit for his outstanding tackling job. Coach Tom Warren of Country club drive is very proud of the whole team. Let's give these kids a real boost and get out to see the games. VOtE - THE COUNTRY WE SAVE MAY BE OUR OWN With the national election just six days away, I cannot miss this opportunity, to urge, or I flight even say beg each and every indiyidual voter to get out slnd vote /for the candidate of your choice. ON THE LIGHTER SIDE Tomorrow is Halloween, it seems like the year went so fast doesn't it? While all of us find beauty in the fall leaves and close - to-the-winter grayness in the sky I find it in the costumed bandits with their shopping bags of loot. The fun these kids have in their doorto- door pirating is really great, it takes me back more years than I care to admit. Let's give these kids a nice welcome, a yummy treat and a porch light or drive-way light on after dark. MORE ON THE ABUSIVE PHONE CALLS If there are still some residents receiving those abusive phone calls in this area which we covered last issue, the November copy of Reader's Digest carries an article on the subject including the new devices used to apprehend the person responsible. The article covered all the points I mentioned plus case histories and both police and telephone company advise on handling such calls. All of our fifty states have laws against obscene calls with penalties ranging up to $1,000 and tenyears in jail. BIRTHDAY PARTY NEWS A very happy birthday to Cindy Becker who celebrated yesterday with a birthday dinner including devil's food cake and ice cream served by her mom, Mrs. Wiles, of Crescent drive. Among Cindy's guests was Lane Brda, also of Crescent drive. A LULL AFTER THE STORM? Since the stormy annexation issue is at a stand-still pending the new petition I haven't received as many calls. Come on readers, no calls - no column. I can write twenty pages about my little Donnie cutting his first two teeth, my four year old doing Footsie in the back yard, my fourteen year old and her everso- long bangs or my husband's luck with his new fishing gear but most of you would find it pretty dull reading. I hope you'11 call me this week - how about it? HOLIDAY LIQUORS I MCHENRY'S FOREMOST • 4512 W. ROUTE 120 Phone 385-3200 McHENRY* 7 days A a *7®olc 11 P.M.
