Hiey take on added meaning to everyone in these days preceding the official start of winter, when the landscape has turned colorless, awaiting a white cover of snow. "It was the second morning of my vacation at Front Royal, Va. The smell of pines was in the air. The lowering clouds of the night had drifted into white flecks and crimson and gold streaks when the sun rose on the dawn of this colorfol day. "My eyes beheld the grand panorama of nature that unfolded for miles around. The crimson and gold faded. The sun suddenly made its appearance. I observed the elory of autumn In a new perspective. ; / "Trees in the distant hills jrere like multi-colored ornaments - upon an earthly carpet stretching shyward - theirvivid colors muted by the distant haze. Grouped together they constituted a scene of the utmost loveliness and grandeur. The sunlight dancing iqxm the dewywet leaves sparkled the red and golden maples. , "The muted leaves of the sycamores -- the all golden white ash -- the deep crimson and orange black oaks -- there was fusion of red, greefi ah^ maroon of thev red oaks £n<|/ locusts, some of the red on (Hie side,, green on the cool side. " There were orange and yellow beeches and shagbark hickories, fringed by the ever colorful sumacs. ^ "Autumn points no two trees alike at once. It goes from one }ugh to another with myriads of .colors so hard to descrtijp. "The day wore on. Ireflected on the beauty the Creator has given us to enjoy. Then came that gorgeous sunset frimedin askyofflamingoihan^^d purple, glowing across thehdrizon. V;.'\ "The trees are dimmed and finally lost in theftasion of darkness as it grows late, leaving me with a new sense of respect for a Great Painter".; "Reflecting, I murmurefl, 'The Green of the Earth, the deep blue of the sky *- God's .colors!' ,...
