WITNESSES PLAN FOR SEMI-ANNUAL CIRCUIT ASSEMBLY Dominick Fontana, presiding ] minister of the Woodstock congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, announced that he has met l with the presiding ministers of fifteen other congregations in northern Illinois to plan for three days of encouragement at^ their semi-annual circuit as-* sembly to be held in Addison, HI., Jan. 17,18 and 19. Fontana said that a peak of 2,000 are expected to attend the three-day seminar. The recent meeting of presiding ministers jwith JohnStepowoy, special representative of the Watchtower Bible and Tract society of Brooklyn, New York, was for the purpose of planning and organizing the twenty-two convention departments needed to serve the delegates - providing the food, housing, program of instruction and many other materials and services that will be required. A highlight of this religious assembly will be a public address by A. B. Stutler on the subject, "God's Way Is Love". The talk will be delivered Sunday at 3 p.m., Jan. 19, atthe Addison Trail high school. According to Fontana,'5 Jehovah's Witnesses all over the world have three conventions a year for the purpose of increasing their Bible knowledge and having an interchange of encouragement to strengthen one another to remain strong in Christian faith, especially in these critical times in which mankind finds itself." In fact, Fontana said, "In light of the times, we have chosen as our theme for this convention the thought from Mark 13:10, 'Sharing fully in preaching the Good News.'" An extensive program of Bible instruction is being planned for the Addison convention and the public will be offered a personal invitation to attendthe sessions, which are free. Ancient Linen The earliest records of the use of linen come from Egypt, and can be dated back at least four thousand years. In tombs opened after three thousand years, some of the linen wrappings have been found in as good condition as they were originally. * * • Modern Nomads Bedouin chieftains in Jordon ar^ replacing their camels with automobiles. "BUT HE WAS WOUNDED FOR .Oy* TRANSGRESSIONS, HE WAS BRUISED FOROUR INIQUITIES: THE CHASTISEMENT OF OUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM; AND WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED. " Isaiah 53:5 The Christmas season is upon us and we are all gift conscious with the giving and receiving of gifts. Let us take a minute to think on one of the gifts that the Lord Jesus Christ gives us through his suffering and death. I Peter 2:24, tells us that Jesus not only bare our sins in his own body, bit also our sicknesses. This gift of healing for our bodies has been paid for all we must do is receive it. "And Jesus went about aU Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching thegospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease among the people." "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever." Mathew 4:23 Hebrew 13:8. Bethesda Prayer Fellowship 3809 W. Main Street McHenry, Illinois 385-7074 Time of Meetings 3:00-4:00 p.m. Sun. Christmas--and we crunch along the rutted lane to the house where Grandpa waits, white hair shining in the candlelight, to throw open the door before- the biggest tree a child has ever seen. Christmas--and I cry as I unpack the cardboard manger scene I made as a child, that Mother had set up every year 'till now. Christmas--and our little girl kneels tenderly beside a homemade manger. Two brothers flank her, their shepherd hats askew, as Daddy reads by firelight, "And there were in the same country shepherds..." Christmas--and in a world that knows war, bitterness, and paiji, I praise God for the Babe who "grew in grace" and demonstrated perfect Love. Christmas--and candlelight gleams on the altar of your church and mine as we thank God for the birthday, . of a King. CHAIN CLARES EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH 4815 N. Wilmot Road Rev. Clarence E.
