Our smile becomes particularly wan as we repeat that Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. is the news deadline, only to have it ignored. We are relegating the problem to the care of Baby New Year, who will wear his first frown with the initial offender. Next are drivers --most of them, and women in particular. Occasionally we find ourself among the careless, at which time the offense seems less serious. At all other times we prefer a return to the days of the pedestrian, when the chief concei n was dqi^ing a high spirited horse with buggy. We hope Young New Year,, with the helpgisome new state laws, will take care of things. However, just how much confidence we have in that law is better left for another time when we haVe a few hundred well chosen words to express our pessisism. ' Then there are young peopld - - anyone younger than ourself-- into which category everyone seemed to fall as we trudged with • weary feet in the last days before ,Christmas. In the true spirit of Oh, we could think of a few more that we'd like to assign to the little fellow, but we .don't want to discourage him completely, and besides, at this moment there's a fresh, young spirit in our heart. With Santa having filled our stocking well, we have decided to carry over into 1969 a benevolent" spirit which puts everyone --well, almost everyone-- on our list of good friends. Folks fortunate enough to be1 able to reach Channel 32 on their TV sets may have seen a McHenry man, Rodney Mauch, when he appeared with the Bradley university chorale on Christmas day. Rodney has earned an enviable spot in this fine musical group and last year -fenjoyed a European tour with the chorus. Christmas gremlins managed to make their way into this' -coluriin last week.
