Hie Lesson-Sermon is titled "Sacrament" and the Golden Text is from I Samuel: "Behold to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat $)f rams." Included in the readings is the following reference from the Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary 6aker Eddy: "To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worth evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done. Outward worship is not of itself sufficient to express loyal and heartfelt gratitude, since he has said: 'If ye love me, keep my commandments.' He alone can be born Twice, and is faced with the added responsibility, as to what to do with Jesus Who is called Christ. Mathew 2^22. God's immutable law of sowing and reaping, demands an answer, and the decision, determines WHERE MAN SHALL SPEND ETERNITY. Living a few miles above hell, and with many challenging opportunities to accept God's Son who died on the cross, and shed His Life's blood as an atonement for those who believe, many die and go to hell every day. God's law of retribution has never failed to get his man. Hie sinful Adamic human NATURE enters every man and woman at physical fciftMftru the law ofcg«neration,, making all men and women sinners, and in need of a Savior. Science now sees these tiny genes of carriers of heredity, in human flesh under powerful magnifying glasses. As this Adamic nature is transmitted to every person at their first or physical birth, so is the spiritual or Christ NATURE imparted to every born again child of God, at their SECOND BIRTH. These TWO NATURES in every Christian, struggle for supremacy, for the believer's human will, for it directs their life-walk which determines their reWards, good or evil. What feeds one of these natures, starves the other. A deep consecretion keeps the old Adamic sinful nature daily crucified, but a worldly life starves the spiritual growth. '"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23. f For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, thru Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23. God offers FULL PARDON UNCONDITIONALLY, not only accepting the atoning blood of Jesus at Calvary, as a price gift of redemption, but actually makes us justified, or just as if we hadn't sinned. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. i What will you do with Jesus who is called the Christ? Bethesda^Prayer Fellowship 3809 W. Father John Strazalka, Pastor Too close for comfort Here's a photograph taken from a kayak. You don't bring a ship this close fd an iceberg! i For underwater the tentacles of this cruel, cold monster may reach out a mile or more. Life for some folks is a succession of narrow escapes. But these are adventures we can do without. They don't prove us bold sailors. They simply prove us poor navigators. Frightened men sometimes turn to religion as a refuge when dangers--moral, spiritual and physical--loom too close for comfort. God does not fail us in crisis. t But^the every-day function of faith is. to pilot men on a true course through the sea of life. The Church cannot sweep away icebergs. It warns us of their whereabouts and helps us give them a wide berth. Copyright 1969 Keister Advertising Service, Inc.. Strasburg, Va.
