A September wedding is being planned. FLU VICTIMS Mr. and Mrs. Jack Moore, Sr., Wonder Woods, were victims of the Hong Kong flu over the holidays and are now recovered from the "bug". CHICKEN POX We are still being invaded by the chicken pox. It has taken April over three weeks to recover completely and Jamie and Beth Ann had them over New Years and Beth Ann also had a touch of flu with the chicken pox. Hope everybody enjoyed the holidays and are now looking forward to a brand new year. NOTE OF SYMPATHY Our condolences to the family of Mrs. Viola Frieze, 92 years old, Stockton, Mo., mother of Mr. Samuel Yokley, Deep Spring Woods, who passed away Dec. 20. Mrs. Frieze had sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and five children, two of whom are still living, Mrs. Katie Griffin and Mr. Yokley. Among those attending the funeral were Richard Yokley, Chicago, Mrs. Jack (Delores) Falkenthal and daughter, Debbiet Schaumberg, and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Yokley. Personals Pvt. James Kloeckner spent the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kloeckner. He was accompanied home by Pvt. Neil Davis and Pvt. Ricky Karls of McHenry and Pvt. Randy Jones of Michigan City, Ind. The boys all returned last Friday to Fort Polk, La. HOLIDAY NEWS Sincfe theT holiday: season is still all around us, I thought it would be nice if you could hear about all the lovely Christmas parties we^ had. I believe the first one was on Dec. 4 when the McHenry County postmasters dined out in Richmond. For entertainment Kathy Murphy played her guitar and sang. She also pot-luck dinner was served to twenty members and6 three guests. President Be'ulah Karls opened the meeting with roll call, all recited their favorite Bioem. Reports were read, Three members had been sick, Mrs. Ray Sullivan, Mrs. Roy Todd and Mrs. Russell Rudolph. The Sunshine Chairman Frances Shotliff delivered flowers and fruit to them. Carols were sung and Santa arrived to distribute gifts. The next meeting will be held on Ja. 15 at the home of. .Peggy Buesseler. The annual Christmas party of the Christian Mothers society was on Dec. 19. A hot turkey dinner with all the^trimmings was served. A Christmas program was arranged by Jtilia May, chairman. This included ,some excellent ltfifal talent... Tommy Schoenaecompanied by the Storr brothers on guitars sang beautiful Christmas songs, recitations were given by little tots, one of them being Renee Kagan who told the Christmas story. A talented little . girl, Chris May, gave several render HRESTMAS VISITS Mr. and Mrs. John Sanborn spent Christmas week at the home of their families at Bensenville and Chicago. On New Year's Day their children and families drove out here and all enjoyed dinner at Solon. We had Christmas dinner at our home on Christmas Eve. Father Nicholas flew in from California, Sp/4 Victor Freund and his wife, Martha, were home from Fort Bragg, N. C., and Dan and Ruth and our two grandchildren, Debbie and Kelly, from Crystal Lake were there, so Santa came over to see the girls and bring gifts. On,Christmas day Charlie and I enjoyed having dinner with the Ed Thennes £a- „ mily in McHenry. Mrs. Agnes May and son, Jim, ^ flew to California and spent ' Christmas with Mrs. Diane Mc- ^ Guan and son Johnny. )• Some servicemen were home, saw Marine Mike Sanders and * heard that John Waspi returned from Vietnam. CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY !• Friends of Mrs. Christina. Britz gathered at the home of. her daughter, Mrs. Arthur, Klein, on Jan. 2 to help celebrated her eighty-eighth birthday. Then we gathered at my home for games and a gift exchange, this was Dec. 12. On Dec. 18 the Lotus Countfy Woman's Club held its Christmas party at the home of Frances Heineman with Arlene Krueger as co-hostess. A turkey ful soprano voice Miss Marilyn Dam sang several songs accompanying herself on the guitar. Santa made his appearance to give out the gifts and all present sang songs. . That same evening Santa arrived at Spring Grove school for their Christmas party. Gifts were given the children and the children presented a Christmas program for their parents and all present.
