FOUR WEEKS REMAIN UNTIL iLICENSE DEADLINE A little less than four weeks "vim remain for Illinois motorists to get their 1969 license plates mounted on their vehicles, Secretary of State Paul Powell warned. Midnight Saturday, Feb. 15, is the deadline for having the new plates on the vehicles, he said, emphasizing that merely having applied for the plates or even carrying them inside the car will not be compliance with the, deadline requirement. At present, about 2,500,000 applications have been processed, an increase of 225,000 over the number processed at the same time a year ago. Mr. Powell said. Registration for 1968 totalled 5,409,378. The auto travelled into a ditch after striking an icy spot. Truck drivers stopped and helped her out of the ditch, then attempted to stop traffic until she could drive her car, which extended across two lanes, into the proper thoroughfare. In the meantime, Ivan Benderwald of Wright road, McHenry, approached from the other direction and struck the car. He told authorities he saw the vehicle and the men too late to avoid a collision.
