PG. 8 - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY, JAN. 31, 1969 McCullom Laxf News EVE LEVESQUE 385-4141 FILING DATE DEADLINE NEARS FOR VILLAGE Although no candidates had fijed with village clerk Carol Bate man up to last Monday afternoon, Monday, Feb. 10, is the last day for those aspiring to village offices. The posts which are open are that of the president, village clerk, two trustees for four year terms, and one trustee for a two year term. Holdover trustees are Don Parenti, Virginia Aalto and Eugene Huff. They e^ch have two more years to serve the village. Mr. Parenti submitted, his resignation last year, but has continued to serve his community, for which he is to be commended. Responsible citizens who would like the opportunity to contribute a vital service to the community are urged to pick up the necessary papers from Mrs. Bateman, have the petitions signed, and return them to the village clerk before the deadline. The village election will be held Tuesday, April 15, in the beachhouse from 6 a.m. to 6 p. m. If you have any questions, contact members of the village board or the village clerk. CULLOM-KNOLL MEETS SUNDAY The fish derby which will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15 and 16, will be number one subject on the agenda when the Cullom-Knoll association meets this Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3p.m. in the beachhouse. It is imperative that every member and officer attend this meeting. A1 Kanak is chairman of the fish derby and George Luto is president of the organization. MOTHERS MARCH THIS WEEKEND The annual Mothers' March of Dimes drive for funds will be conducted this weekend, according to local chairman, Mrs. Mary Kantorski. In spite of the publicity, you need not be a MOTHER to participate in the worthwhile project. Mrs. Kantorski urgently needs the support of mothers, housewives, and older teen girls to help her with this project. To offer your assistance, simply dial 385-3271. Mrs. Kantorski will be most appreciative. SGT. LOESCH SUBMITS RESIGNATION Sgt. Ken Loesch of the McCullom Lake police department regretfully submitted his resignation to the village board at the last meeting, held Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the beachhouse. His resignation takes effect Feb. 1 and was submitted because Mr. L^sch has been transferred to another state. He will be moving his wife and two children to Knoxville, Tenn., in the near future. Chief Earl Murray lauded Sgt. Loesch for his actions in behalf of residents and asked that the board accept the resignation regretfully. Mr. Loesch .has been a member of the police department for six years, and was promoted to sergeant about two years ago. Because of the heavy snowfalls this season, the snow plowing bill has been climbing. From the sound of the weather reports, there will be much more. The next meeting will be held Wednesday. Feb. 5, at 8p.m. in the beachhouse. The public is i mi ted to attend. According to the report, there were no spectators at the last meeting. It is more than likely that extreme cold weather was a deterrent. Please remember that your elected officials wish to serve your best interests, but cannot do so without your support. BROTHER PLAYS CUPID!! One young lady found the advantage of having a brother, especially the kind that brings eligible young men home. This is how Miss Janet Hansen met the man she will marry this coming Saturday. It seem.§, as. , though big brother Mark and Daniel S. Jamieson became friends at their mutual place of employment. Dan called at the home and that started the whole thing. The two will exchange vows at St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1. Miss Hansen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David R, Hansen, 1813 S. Fernwood, McHenry. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Jamieson, Pistakee Highlands, McHenry. Mark, the matchmaker, is now a Lance Corp., U.S.M.C. and will be unable to witness the results of his efforts since he is currently serving his country in Vietnam. The lovely young miss who will be a bride shortly is a graduate of McHenry high school, class of '67 and is now a private secretary in DesPlaines. Mr. Jamieson graduated from Marian 'Central high school, Woodstock, in 1965. A reception for invited guests will be held at the V.F.W. home, McHenry. Details of the wedding next week. " GRAND NLA SEZ" RECUPERATING That very warm and sentimental gal who has been res-" ponsible for the column- Grandma Sez--published on Wednesdays, has been sorely missed, and for good reason. She plannedto spend the Christmas and New Year holidays with her daughter and family--the M. W. Holmbecks, Granville, III.,--and became seriously ill. She ended up in St. Margaret's hospital, Spring Valley, for one week and spent several more weeks recuperating. Mrs. RuthRadtkeof W. Fountain Lane returned to her home just under two weeks ago, and is much improved but still not able to journey far afield. She suffered internal illness which triggered her old heart condition. We know that she would enjoy communications from . her readers and her multitude of friends. She plans to resume writing her column and your comments would certainly be an incentive. PLUCKY GAL'S PROGRESS REPORT For those who have been sending get-well messages to. Mrs. Theresa Schultz in St. Therese's Hospital, Waukegan, we hope you can now send them to McHenry hospital. That was the good word from her doctor that she was to be transferred back home the end of this week. She is making tremendous strides in her own behalf and has graduated to a wheel chair, for part of the day, at least. Her morale is high and the devoted attention of her family has certainly helped. She still needs your prayers and good wishes.
