' J - THE MCHENRY PLAINDEALER SERVING THE CHAIN-O-LAKES REGION SINCE 1875 LAKELAND PARK NEWS Carole Humann S8V160S LITTLE LEAGUERS REGISTER FOR '69 SEASON MARCH S The big story is the registration night for Little Leaguers again. This is an important date to remember as it won't be too long before the bats start cracking all over again for the summer season. In case you mis sed it before, the date is Wednes day, March 5, at 7 p.m. at the Community House. Each boy should be accompanied by a parent. The registration fee has been changed this year to $9 for the first boy in a family, with the rest of the boys in the family paying $5. This is actually no change from last year. It is only the price of all the Little League affairs collected at one time, instead of four seperate collections. The fee includes the cost of insurance and baseball cap, and the bus trip^to the major league ball game" for every boy, with the first boy also paying the banquet money and for dance tickets. Anyway, don't forget the date to register. Movies are being planned and refreshments will be served. Boys who are eight years old and not thirteen years old before Aug. 1 are eligible to play in the league. SKATING PARTY The Little League roller skating party was a big success with 157 people attending. At least 157 people had fun and that's quite a coup these days! The financial figures will be in later but the prime objective was to provide an evening of good fun and that sure was done. Noticed a few limpy people hobbling around for several days! RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY While checking the schedule for the couple bowling league, noticed that there are only four bowling sessions left this season. Tempes fugit! The Nippies are still in first place with 31-17 points in their favor. The Sock It To Me's are second with 28%-l9% followed by the Klik with 26-22, The Mosquitoes and the 8 Balls are tied for fourth with 25%-22!{ and the Crooked Cranes are breathing right down their necks with 24- 24 for a tight seventh spot. The Bugs and Biermans Bombers are tied for eighth position with 23-25 and the Pandas have 21-27 for tenth. Jack's Team has 20-28 for eleventh and the Er-Ki-Gr-Ke's are firmly and solidly entrenched in the cellar with 15JS-32& The outcome of Saturday night's bowling will go a long way to deciding the race to the finish. The Mosquitoes and Jack's Team are on lanes land 2. The Sock It To Me's and tffe Nippies are meeting on 3 and 4 and this could possibly see a chance in first place. The Bugs and Pandas are slated for 5 and 6 and the Er-KirGr-Ke will meet the Klik on 7 and 8. The 8 balls and Crooked Cranes are only half a point apart so will also have an important match on lanes 9 and 10. The Ten Pins and Bierman's Bombers are one point apart when they start their match on 11 and 12. Should be some interesting position changes to report next week. The group will bowl again on March 1 instead of the eighth as originally scheduled. Hope no one forgets. Jim and Sandy Cole and the girls have moved from the subdivision and are living out on Lincoln road in a pretty wooded area. Hope they are happy in their new surroundings. Know for a facfvthat they have real nice neighbors. c We got together with the old gang for our once-a-year dinner spree. Met Phil and Marge Johnson and Ron and Jean Bergman at a restaurant in Dundee ; where we all proceeded to gain back all the weight we had lost in the previous two weeks. And I wish I was only kidding. At least we didn't gain extra - that could! be catastrophe. Ended up in an, old English sstyle pub where we ate peanuts (Oh the pain) and everyone took care of the problem of what to do with the shells by just throwing them on the floor. How simple.
