Annual campaign to raise $21,000 in McHenry county is under way. Funds operate Therapy center on Washington street in Woodstock. DOS PEASLEY PHOTO V * BOYStOUJ» NEWS TROOP 131 A year or so ago, I heard our scoutmaster, Stu Hoak, make the statement that the perfect troop was thirty-two boys of four patrols of eight boys in each patrol. That dream is fast approaching for as I entered our meeting room last Monday evening, I counted thirty-six bqys. Of course, about six of these were Explorers, but even so, we still have only about three or four to go to reach this goal. With the enthusiasm that exists, and Scout Dromotion still to come, how can we miss? Speaking of Explorers, how about these guys? They don't really have to come to the regular Scout meeting, but they show up nearly every meeting night to assist the scoutmasters and keep up to date on the various activities so they can participate. These fellows are developing some pretty nice plans of their own sueh as trapshooting, canoeing trips, etc., which is really great for it is my humble opinion that these are the guys that are really the big influence in keeping "outing" in scouting. The next time you fellows have a trapshoot, be sure to let me know as I have a friend who is a professional and he would like to show you a few tricks such as the "radar sight" as he calls it. Now for the scouting calendar for the next couple of weeks. March 15 and 16 is the next campout out at Thunderbird. Be sure to mark this down somewhere, guys. Remember, you must have a required number of nights under canvas before you can qualify for certain rank advancement and merit badges. March 22 and 23 the leaders are scheduled to camp out at the same place and all council members are invited to come along. For those committemen who have never been to an adult campout, COITE on out. I think you will find it a worthwhile experience. Monday, March 24, is an important date for all Scouts working on advancement to remember. There will be an official board of review that evening for those Scouts who are ready to take another step forward. Committeemen also take note! We can't hold these boards if you are not there. We need at least three men for each board, one of whom must be certified. This means that if we have three men there who are certified and six who are not, we can still set up three boards of review. So, all of you interested men come on down. We need you. That's about it for this week. One final note to the scribe of the troop and the secretary of the Explorers. Be sure to get your notes in to me before each Tuesday evening so I can get your articles written before the paper deadline-OK? Tom Russell, Public Relations jKiwanis News] In meeting last Monday, the Wonder Lake Kiwanis club made plans for an inter-club meeting with the Fox River Grove- Cary club. The regular dinner meeting at the .Wharf was cancelled so that members could attend the meeting in Fox River Grove March 17. Members will meet at the T.P. Mathews building, with cars leaving at 6 o'clock. April 12 was set for the bowling sweepstakes and buffet dinner in McHenry. TsimptiereX 5 ~ YOl/'LL BE DOUARS AHEAD/ fc I J.W.
