LORRAINE PIKE 3-19-69 SUNDAY'S A SERMON KEEP YOUR FAITH When health fails, the wise man seeks the services of a qualified physician. Very few of us care to tolerate the discomfort of an ailment that car be medically cured. Why. then, do some of us allow our faith to slip away, without so much as a glance? We become busy with the affairs of life, engrossed in our w o r k a n d o u r p l a y . T h e r e comes a change in our sense of values. •* And, why, too, is it so often true that some sudden sickness or some upsetting of our normal affairs will make us quick to reach out and recapture the faith that has be^n slipping away? Check your, faith, as you w o u l d c h e c k y o u r h e a l t h . Whatever you believe in, hold firmly. Faith is strength. 1' aith is courage, and it is.hope. Vet it needs refurbishing. It needs attention. Faith should be a matter or practice, not a once-in-awhile recognition of a personal belief, or an individual sense of values. He showed the boys how to make an electric motor and an electric magnet and then explained polarization. He also showed different types of switches. Then he demonstrated how to splice electric wires and how to repair an electric plug. All the boys enjoyed his lecture. Bill has just been named as the new leader of the Buffalo patrol. John Cunat stepped in at the last minute and presented his brother Brian's talk on the Rabbit Raising Merit badge. Brian had Jin accident and cut his leg just before the meeting and was unable to attend, so John took over for him. John brought a rabbit to the meeting and explained about the breeding, housing, care and expenses of raising rabbits. It seems bne of the main problems is finding a steady market for the rabbits you raise. Don Zamastil, Webelos leader for Pack 454, of Johnsburg, attended the meeting. He brought with him Cub Scout Jeff Boyer to observe the Scout meeting. As part of the older Cub Scout training program the boys are taken by their leaders to various Scout troops. Jeff got a chance to see how the meetings are conducted and to MARKED MONEY... Money, marked invisibly by atomic methods, may prove to be a further legal nemesis to track down criminals. By aiming a beam from a source of the radioisotope C a l i f o r n i u m - 2 5 2 t h r o u g h various apertures, the money can be made ever so slightly radioactive in an infinite variety of patterns. meet some of the Scouts. Then when Jeff gets to be 11 he has his choice of what Scout troop he would like to join. It is much more enjoyable for a boy to be able to go into a Scout group he has seen in action, rather than walking in to an unfamiliar group of strangers and not know any of their routine. The older Cub Scouts are called Webelos. As part of their training they will earn a Boy Scout rank of Tenderfoot. Then the Cubs can come into their new Scout troop as ranking members ready to participate in all activities. Mr. Zamastil will be bringing more boys to visit us shortly.
