March 28, 1969 McCullom Lake Nhws EVE LEVESlll F 385-4141 URGE RESIDENTS VOTE TOWNSHIP ELECTION APRIL I On Tuesday, April lrresi- > dents will go to the polls at the beachhouse to elect township officials. The polls will: be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Marge Olsen, Myra Murray, Irene Sales, Gerry Jensen and Adelaide Patzke will serve as judges. Offices to be elected are township clerk, auditor, assessor and three assistant supervisors. The candidates and their qualifications have been, published and we urge every resident to become knowledgeable and then go to the polls and vote. " VILLAGE OFFERS TWt) SLATES OF CANDIDATES , Two slates of candidate shave filed their intention to run for village offices, Tuesday, April 15, 1969. Polling place will be the beachhouse with hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don Parenti heads the Progressive Party and seeks the office of village president. He will resign as trustee on April 1 in order to actively seek the post. Mr. Parenti was first elected trustee in 1957 for a four year term. He was electecj to a two year term, and then again, a four year term. Carol Bateman is completing a four year term as village clerk and is running for reelection. Eugene Frost has been active in the'Cullom-Knoll association and served as trustee of that organization. He has been a resident of the village for 21 years. Allan McKim has lived in the village all of his life, served as trustee of the Cullom-Knoll association and also as village trustee. Bill Gleeson has been a resident for five years, and served as trustee of the Cullom- Knoll association and also was elected vice-president. A 17 year resident of the community, Larry Murray was active in the Cullom-Knoll association and served as chief of police for the village. The People's Party is headed by George Luto who was defeated for the presidency of the village in 1965 by Arthur Stuhlfeier who died in office. He now holds the position of president of the Cullom-Knoll association but ran unopposed. Jean Garner is a relative newcomer to the community. Ray Lary is currently serving as village trustee in an appointed capacity. He has served as trustee and president of the Cullom- Knoll association . Monty Yates is running for trustee. James Wyman was elected a trustee of the Cullom-Knoll association and seeks the office of trustee. Tom Damiano is running for 2 year trustee. Just submitted are the names of the people who seek to run the village and allocate YOUR tax dollars. We suggest you investigate the background and intent of each candidate and then make your selection on April 15. In a subsequent column, we $hall again run the qualifications of each person for your . edification. A FITTING TRIBUTE TO MAN OF GOD It was with grief that residents of the village, Catholics and Protestants alike, that we read of the untimely death of Father Guzzardo. This village called on the good Pastor for many years to serve during our Memorial day services. He never sent an emissary but always chose to give the invocation or benediction himself. On more than one occasion, he gave assistance to this reporter, (a Lutheran) and Theresa Schultz who served as chairmen of the program and his words werealways inspirational. LOVELY LADY WEDS SATURDAY . Our very best wishes toDiaureen Kumpula as she becomes the bride of Mr. Robert Good this Saturday. She is the daughter of Beatrice and the late William Kumpula. Bob lives with his parents in Palatine. NOTES FROM THE VILLAGE BOARD At the last meeting of the village board, held Wednesday, March 19, all members were present with the exception of trustee Gene Huff. A liquor license was granted to the Forum for fiscal year '69-'70. The current licenses become void at midnight, March 31." Trustee Don Parenti has been in touch with legal counsel regarding the Lipke property on W. Parkview. There are steps which can be taken if necessary, howevef, he was also in contact with lawyers who are handling the estate. They indicated willingness to co-operate with village ordinances. No difficulty is expected in this quarter. The police department has requested additional funds to purchase radio equipment which would put them in direct touch , with the county, in the event of an emergency. The next meeting will beheld Wednesday, April 2, at 8 p.m. in the beachhouse. The public is cordially invited to attend. NO CULLOM-KNOLL MEETING UNTIL ANNOUNCED Because the regularly seed4 uled meeting of the Cullom- Knoll association would fall on Easter Sunday, the meeting has been postponed. If an April meeting is to be held, it will be called by the president. Residents are reminded that hard boijfed colored eggs are needed for the kiddies' Easter egg roll, Saturday, April 5. Gene Huff is chairman and an^ nounces that both the Forum and the Cullom-Knoll Inn will co-operate and accept the eggs. They may be deposited at either location on Friday before the party. The kids look forward to this event which was instigated many years ago by Art Stuhlfeier. More on this later. THE HALT AND THE HALT You just wouldn't have believed our living room last Sunday, with TWO pairs of crutches in prominence. Our Dee- Dee "busted" her ankle inP.E. on Wednesday, was admitted to McHenry hospital that night. Because of the swelling, it was impossible for the medics to put the limb in cast until Friday. She came home Saturday a.m., in rare good spirits. On Sunday, she and her next door neighbor girl chum -- Wendy Cunningham went for a crutch "stroll" down Spring Road.
